I won't manage the antics of LAA - perhaps he'll join in.  But, it is another item to watch this season in the Horizon League.

UIC's currently 0-13 in D1 games.  Can they manage to... what's the opposite of running the table?

Even Youngstown did eventually pick up two league wins last season.

Five other teams in the country remain with 0 D1 wins.  UIC's RPI is only 345... make that 346 out of 351 teams.

Their KenPom is 339, just ahead of Chicago State.  Their defense is actually rated #260.  Better than Detroit! (and Youngstown)

RPI Forecast makes it considerably more likely that Valpo runs the table (19%) than that UIC fails to win (7%).  In fact, it likes them for two wins.  Best chance?  3.7 point dogs when Youngstown comes to Chicago.

Real Time RPI projections for the Flames...

01-16     Milwaukee   10-6 (3-2) 162  69-76 L - Scouting   (Panthers up 22 with 15:00 to play at UIC)
  01-18   at  Cleveland St.   3-13 (0-5) 225  63-76 L - Scouting

  01-28     Youngstown St.   5-11 (2-3) 231  74-75 L - Scouting
  01-30     Cleveland St.   3-13 (0-5) 225  71-68 W - Scouting

And then there were 4....

Illinois Chicago - 0-14  RPI 344 - Flames are at Cleveland State (4-13) on Monday
Northwestern State - 0-11 - RPI 348 - Demons are at TA&M-Corpus Christi (11-3) on Tuesday
Delaware State 0-15 - RPI 349 - Hornets play at Savannah State (5-9) on Monday
Southeastern Louisiana - 0-15 - RPI 350 - Lions are home to Lamar (6-7) on Monday

(Southeastern Louisiana plays at Northwestern State on January 30)

(Central Conn State is 1-16 with the lowest RPI at 351)

But nobody will go completely winless...

Northwestern State has won 3 non-D1 games
Southwestern Louisiana has won 2 non-D1 games
Delaware State has won 1 non-D1 game, with one more on their schedule
Illinois Chicago has won 2 non-D1 games

Presumably UIC's best chances are home games like:

Jan 28 Youngstown
Jan 30 Cleveland State
Feb 13 Northern Kentucky

Seems like when the home team can't fix their own clock and are given 30 minutes to do so then they should forfeit the game instead of trying to find dates in a tight schedule to make up what the home team staff should have been prepared for. Joe Biden must be embarrassed by his fellow Delaware residents when they can't fix a basketball clock in 30 minutes.

agibson

I'm surprised they couldn't work around it with a stop watch or somebody's phone or something.  Maybe NCAA rules require a visible game clock.

Are they going to charge more admission to watch 15+ minutes of basketball? Or does anyone who attends get in free?

Maybe they should only let suspended students attend this completion of a suspended game?  ;)

And then there were three.  Southeastern Louisiana knocks off Lamar 98 - 70.  And Lamar did have several road wins coming into the game.

UIC lost of course, at CSU by 17.  Next up they're on the road at NKY.  RPI Forecast makes UIC 12 point dogs, with a 15% chance to win.

UIC's RPI falls to 347 (of 351) and their KenPom falls to 344.

Of the three remaining, Delaware State's the closest to the cellar of the group, in these metrics, with Northwestern State a hair above UIC.  Northewestern State plays today, but there chances don't look good.

agibson

RPI Forecast has updated with yesterday's results.

They give UIC a 12% chance of losing out, and a 29% chance of ending with one D1 victory.

By contrast, Valpo's chance of wining out is up to 24%.  Almost as likely as losing two league games.

Northwestern State kept their streak alive on Tuesday night, losing to TA&M-CC 89-79
The Demons next 4 games are against teams with a combined D1 record of 6-51.

Dover, Del. (Jan. 14, 2016) --- The suspended Jan. 11 Delaware State/Howard men's basketball contest will resume at 4:30 p.m. today (3:30 Central)  in DSU's Memorial Hall.   Howard was leading 41-38 with 15:41 left in the second half when play was stopped due to mechanical issues.

This is the only scheduled meeting between the Hornets and Bison this season.

Delaware State is trying to snap and three-game losing streak and capture its first MEAC win of the season. The Hornets are coming off a 64-47 loss at Savannah State on Monday evening.

Howard has been idle since a non-conference loss to Harvard on Monday.

Justin Jordan (nephew of some guy named Michael) is transferring to UNC Greensboro. He is a Davidson, NC native.

"In four games this season, the 6-foot-3 guard averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. He started 15 contests as a freshman in 2014-15 and contributed 5.0 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 1.1 apg."

So, that's the J.J. who's _not_ second in conference from assists, and it's also _not_ the J.J.  with a separate last name.

I'd not noticed he was off the roster when they came to the ARC.

Was there a Jeremy Johnson on their roster at some point this season, also?  He shows up, if in minimal fashion, at

The Flames are at NKU today, so we'll see how they fare with the weather.  One forecast says 1-3 inches.   Bloomington and Columbus, IN and Dayton, OH apparently staying out of it.

bbtds

I've heard the snow starts somewhere south of Seymour but before Louisville. A friend drove back from Seymour to Indy today and didn't see any snow.

agibson

On the radar it was snowing in Highland Heights this afternoon.  But, maybe they didn't get much.  Inch or so?

UIC loses by 13 in overtime.  Seems like we've had similar OT results before.  But, it takes some doing.
