OK, the Panther game was a nice way to get the cobwebs out...with the 18 point win.  The Phoenix struggled all night with the Flames, winning by 4.

Here's that box.

Interesting stat, 8 different players had at least one steal for GB.  Warren Jones with 18 off the bench.

I'm heading up there on Saturday for the game.  Anyone else?

5 Road wins in a row... 7-way tie for 13th in the country on that streak

19-4 puts us in a 5-way tie for 19th best winning % in the country

8-wins in a row put us in a tie with Monmouth in 10th place

8 conference wins in a row put us in a tie with Monmouth for 9th place

Valpo is ranked 123rd in the country in total Home Attendance
Valpo is ranked 111th in the country in % Capacity at 59.54%

Anderson was a non-factor in our game a few weeks ago... 23 minutes, 3 points 0 rebounds.
I guess we'll have to find someone else to guard...

We keep up the pressure and with some good FT shooting, we pull out a great road win!

And only allowed 19 in the first half!  It looks like it is all coming together at the right time.

Good strategy and execution by GB. We should be even further down.

Derrik is a complete liability in this game. Every time they went on a run, Derrik was playing. Every time we closed the gap, Derrik was out. Soft defense. TO prone.  Indecisive. Not even being guarded. His man leaving him every time down the court to double Alec. Air ball from 12 feet. Matador defense. Kudos to GB for recognizing our weakest link and exploiting it at both ends.

He has to sit. If J needs a blow, go small. I hope I'm wrong, but if he starts the 2nd half, we might be down 15 before they can get him out.

Smits is just killing this game.

Agreed.  In addition we are flat footed on offense.  Doyle (commentator) saying what many of us believe, we need off ball cuts continuously.  Because of the attention on Peters we'd benefit from running the offense through Jaume at the top of the key and having Alec do more posting up.

Starts and ends with EFFORT!

After lopsided first half officiating, UWGB is in the bonus 5 min into the half?

valpo64

Was a TERRIBLE  effort on our part!  ML should be kicking butt at this lack-luster effort.  Does anyone other than AP want to play and win???  Disgusting to watch..probably the worst performance I've seen in years by a Valpo team.  Even those sitting on the bench, including the coaches,  act like they could care less.

It's not the officials sir.  It's defensive effort combined with offensive incompetence from where I sit.  I'm seeing the early 2nd half disparance in FT Attempted as a symptom of effort and cohesion.

AP hasn't shown up to play at all today.  Flat footed on defensive rebounds which are traditionally his and his alone.

This is a full team meltdown but we'll bounce back.  Effort and defense are something we can control moving forward.

P.S.  It's Tevonn take over time.  Let's see what happens.

The only real hope is that we were down by about the same amount in the HL tourney game last season and caught up to Green Bay to force it to overtime. But that will take a huge effort and we haven't given that today.

VU2014

This game has everything to do with energy and effort. We're not showing either. Credit to GBW for out hustling us on every level.

When we played UWM on Thursday did we just drive back home to Valpo or did they just drive straight up to Green Bay? Maybe that is affecting energy levels. Either way this is an unacceptable effort when this team needs to win out to have a chance at outright bid. After this most likely loss it will pretty much seal our fate that we need to win the conference tourney.

rink

Apparently it doesn't matter who's in the game, Smits or otherwise. We're Swiss cheese on D. Perhaps partly to blame on putrid O setting up GB to run.

valpolaw

I haven't had an issue with the officiating. It'd be nice if we didn't give multiple second chance shots and let them own the paint. Not a good game unless a miracle happens here

valpo64

One factor that shows effort is second chance points...at one point about midway thru the 2nd half it was 12-0 in favor of Green Bay.  They had 6 shots on one offensive sequence!  Are you kidding me?  Did our team walk up to Green Bay?

wh

Well, it took some doing, but we managed to make GB as dominating as Kentucky.
