Need a forum poll:

Who will play in the NBA first:

Alex Peters or Ryan Broekhoff?

Alec Peters (not Alex) will play in the NBA first. Just my gut feeling.

I think Ryan has one more year on his contract, that any NBA team that would draft would have to pay off. So I say Alec will go before him.

Listening to the video... I've been mispronouncing rrrrrrrryan bbrrrrrrokoff  all along.  Pretty Cool!

My guess is Peters because he'll get drafted so he's more likely to secure a roster spot by next season, but thats no slight against Rowdy. Rowdy is a stud. He's played in the summer league and is playing at an All-Star Euro League level.

He actually just played in the all star game.

A very cool recognition of Ron Howard here in Fort Wayne.  Howard's Jersey will soon hang in Coliseum

Pretty cool, and congrats to Ron.  It is a shame that he never played in an NBA game, as he was invited to quite a few training camps.

Has the NBA developed the pay in the D league to where players like Ron can make carriers without giant sacrifices?

I read somewhere a few years back, that they make around $40k-$50k per season.  Does that sound accurate, for anyone in the know?  Obviously, if someone is tied to an NBA team/contract, that number is much higher, versus someone signed by the DL team.

Here's one link

On Instagram it looks like he and the family are moving house. I'm not sure how all of this works for Vashil.

By contrast, E Vic got 5 minutes a few nights ago for Ft Wayne in his first game in about six weeks.

Vashil has a career in Europe ahead of him.  Don't feel sorry for him.  He really needs to fine tune his offensive game in order to be an NBA player.

Fort Wayne just had Providence's Ben Bentil sign a 10 day contact with Dallas.  Additionally the Pacers have some frontcourt depth issues due to injury so both Rakeem Christmas and Georges Niang who have spent a good bit of time in Fort Wayne are currently with the Pacers freeing up some minutes for EV.

It is a crazy league, Bentil left earlier this year for China then returned. This week their starting PG Julian Stone signed to play in Italy. Christmas and Niang go up and down regularly.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. And, I rather expected that there could be players on the bottom margin of a D league roster.

I guess I expected that they'd still stick around. Maybe still practice. Maybe even still have a job.

I'm sure Vashil will land OK - it was the instagrams of his whole family moving house that surprised me. I didn't imagine that life would be so transient _during_ the season. Unless maybe you were bouncing up and down with the NBA, which would be a good kind of transient.

valpotx

Vashil has been playing with the Greensboro Swarm over the last 2 weeks, which is tied to the Hornets.  He has played in 4 games during that time.

Ok, here's a fun off-season topic. Which player from the pre-winning record era would you have liked to have seen get a chance to play on one of our current-era teams? We had a number of good players back then who nevertheless spent four years on some lousy squads. Who most deserved a shot to play on a championship-level VU team?

For me, it's: Harry Bell, John Meyne and Jim Ford. (And yes, yes, I know, all three of those guys would all likely be mere role players in the current era. This is a hypothetical exercise. Don't @ me, as they say on the Twitter.)
