I think that is translated "Linssen.  I found him listed 6'9" 242# and is listed as a center.  I suspect he will play PF for Valpo.

CRUSADERS!!!

VU2014

We need to get a few of the German students to have their own student broadcast of the game! Would be awesome to hear a student broadcast games in German.

He looks like a much more athletic version of that dude that played for Green Bay a few years back....I can't remember his name.

If so, I just watched it... he never took off the warm-ups in that game against Spain...

In Lottich we trust. Anyone else notice how good this team could be in 18-19? Nothing against Max, but you only lose one major contributor. No matter what conference we're in we should be stupid good.

Looks to be pretty athletic and can block shots!!

Big, strong, with good hands. I liked the film clip where he rebounded on one end and ran the court to get a pass to make the shot at the other end. Amazed by the size of this team, especially for someone like me, who remembers teams from the 80s like the one that beat Notre Dame and the tallest player was Paul Ford, 6'7" or probably more accurately 6'6"!

Jim Ford, but who's counting.   Anyway... do these international kids still sign an NLI?  if so, is there a signing period?   Just curious.

Ah, yes, JIM Ford.... Shows how long ago that my memory has faded. Thanks!

Jordan Fouse? The other unathletic big from Green Bay that comes to mind is Alec Brown, but keep in mind that Brown was 7'1" C and Linssen is 6'9" PF

Geez, we are going to be BIG!  This is going to be an exciting next 3-4 seasons, until we get some more solid recruits on a yearly basis.

Let's see.... it helps to be tall to see out of a Valley... but you can be short and see the Horizon...   just sayin...

Really like what I saw in the one video.  Big body, decent moves and a nice stroke.  Here is a link to the FIBA profile site.  Not a lot of info but some interesting personal items. http://archive.fiba.com/pages/eng/fa/player/p/pid/130951/sid/12368/tid/288/_/2016_FIBA_U18_European_Championship_Division_A/index.html

Looks like a good player--better to see Lottich get the recruiting haul.  My understanding is that Germans drink beer like water.  Might want to remind him that the drinking age is 21 and minor consumption gets you a night in the slammer.  I bet Sorrolla can let him know...

Do we need (7) players fighting for the minutes that (2) positions have to offer (SF or PF)?

BURTON
FAZEKAS
HAZEN
MCMILLAN
GERMANY
KISER
LEVINGSTON-SIMON (walk on)

Even after Max and Tevonn graduate after 2017/18, we still have (7) players fighting for (2) starting spots in 2018/19.

It's a recipe for transfers, but boy oh boy will it be a competition for the minutes at PF and SF.

Quote from: M on April 28, 2017, 05:15:43 PMBrennan Cougill I think is who I was thinking of.
Looks like a good comparison. I liked Cougill. He could play the 4 and 5. He could hit some 3's and his defense was good even when Rowdy shot that game winning 3 over him!  If this kid can develop into another Cougill then he will be a versatile find and another option for some moments of a double low post action.

But unfortunately I don't see him being a great help for 17-18 and I saw no 3 point shot attempts. If Hazen can not provide some outside shooting at the 4 position then next season may require a much changed offensive approach. For this approach to work our outside shooting from the 1, the 2, and the 3 positions had better be deadly.

Kiser must develop his 3 point shooting to maintain some piece of the action.

valpo64

I have heard that Hazen's weakness is his outside shooting.  In an interview early in the past season, he mentioned that he was working hard to improve his outside game, mentioning that Alec would be graduating  I hope his practice  has improved that part of his game.

So Linsseen plays for Leverkusen: big German sports club with pro soccer, probably pro basketball, etc. Typical European setup. What do you think or chances are of clearinghouse delays? How did we do with Fumey?

Fumey could stand mid court in street clothes with the best of them. Unfortunately that was the highlight of his VU career. Sat a year- then gone back to Europe.   :banghead:
