Scouting Report: First-year Valpo head coach Bryce Drew made a big splash when he reeled in Davidson, one of the top 20 juniors in the talent-rich state of Indiana. Lauded as the best local commit for VU since Kenny Harris, Davidson is a crucial pick-up for Valparaiso. The Crusaders will graduate the majority of their roster after the 2013 season and will be in desperate need of playmakers and scorers. Davidson brings both to VU. A strong scorer and shooter for the 59ers, Davidson is also a fine passer and point guard. Last season, the sophomore averaged 18.5 ppg and 5.1 apg and has improved on those numbers this season while leading Andrean to a 17-2 record. Paired with fellow ’13 recruit Clay Yeo, Valparaiso will boast a big, athletic and talented backcourt for the entirety of their VU careers.
