Yes boneheaded play on the kickoff, nice first drive and TD, then we moved the ball some on the second possession followed by #9 coughing it up on third down. SD wore us down. Offensive line opening up big holes most of the day.

All in all a pretty disappointing effort, highlighted by Chris Gundy’s “boneheaded play of the year” after we had stopped them on their first possession.
Burnee said we need to run the ball better and we certainly did not. Regroup! We could be Texas and have fans ready to jump out of tall buildings!

Basketball season is here, and the news around the Valley is starting to pile up.

I put together the second edition of my Traveling Around the Valley newsletter over at The Beacon Brief covering what’s been happening with all 11 MVC programs: exhibitions, injuries, recruiting, preseason honors, Media Day and more.

Murray State already has an impressive exhibition win over Wichita State, several teams are dealing with early injuries or eligibility questions, and JT Pettigrew continues to receive plenty of preseason recognition for Valpo.

I also added a section highlighting some of the podcasts, YouTube channels and other MVC content worth following this season.

Team will be heading into Southern California with some confidence! I was wrong in predicting a high scoring Drake game. Our offense has got to run the ball better as our defense can’t be relied on to have 5 takeaways every game. But how bout this, I think Valpos defense is third in the conference in points allowed. USD gives up 41 pts a game, Valpo 21. The key is on defense Valpo 28-23 winners.

Yes the 2017 Game that was referenced was a Hail Mary I think that defeated us. Our coach basically say ing we had no business being that close with the talent discrepancy.

So she’s not going to be the head coach? So the right place location wise but I can’t imagine someone relatively young settling for an assistant coach job after running the show for so many years. I would think she will get several offers for a top job once the season is over.

This is merely a placeholder for Carin. We’re in midseason. There is no movement in the DI coaching world right now. But this allows Carin and Mike to have a normal life for a spell while bigger things sort their way out. And they will. These two are very special people.

Short answer yes, long it varies. Have certainly been some in top 25 especially after playoff wins. Pretty much any PFL loss puts you in the back 80

It is the usual thing for the PFL teams to be ranked so closely?

I confess I haven't paid close attention to this before, as I've simply wanted Valpo to squeeze out some wins against anyone. But now it looks like any conference opponent is beatable, especially if Valpo is underrated.
