New member restrictions

All members are considered a "New Member" until they have made 3 posts. All new members are under strict moderation in order to combat spam. As part of this, new members cannot post links or attach files.

Once you have made 3 posts, you are no longer bound by these restrictions and should have no issues posting links or adding attachments to your post.

What are topic tags and prefixes?

Topic Tags are a free form method of categorization, currently being used to group and categorize similar topics. The goal of using these tags in the forum is to create a “heat map”, an index of topics covered within the Forum. The larger the size of the tag, the more discussions about the topic.

When you create a new topic, consider adding a tag! Suggested/existing tags will populate as you begin typing. Tags are displayed on the right side bar.

Additionally, we have several topic prefixes that can be used to categorize your topic. Prefixes help topics stand out in various lists, while also categorizing them. Prefixes are also displayed on the right side bar.

HOW TO: Like/Dislike a post

The like button is a feature in forums where the user can express that they like, enjoy or support certain post, or, dislike a post. wpForo displays the number and name of users who liked each post. This is a quantitative alternative to other methods of expressing reaction to content, like writing a reply text. Rather than posting “+1” or “Agreed”, users can use the Like button.

The number of likes/dislikes a poster receives factors into their overall reputation level.

HOW TO: Subscribe to a Forum/Topic

Forum Subscription

Subscribe for new topics – This allows you subscribe to new topics of certain forum.

Topic Subscription

This is similar to Forum subscription. The only difference in Subscription buttons. You can find topic subscription button in topic page. Click on a topic title/link and find link.

Another easy way to subscribe to own topic or to other topics is using Subscribe to this topic checkbox.

HOW TO: Report a post

If you receive an inappropriate message, see spam anywhere on the platform, or would like to report any member-created content, then you should use the Report abuse button under/above each post.

After you click the Report abuse button, you will be asked to state your reasons for reporting abuse. Forum admins will receive a message and then take a closer look at the situation.

HOW TO: Add an image to your post

The best and easiest way to add an image to your post is to use the file attachment feature. When you use this option, your image will be put into your post, and it will go into your personal library for easy access elsewhere on the forum (max file size is 250mb):

Alternatively, you can upload to a hosting site, like https://imgur.com/ and then simply copy the image (copy/paste) or copy the image URL and paste it into your post:

Note: You can do this with any image from any website, but be VERY careful about this, as if the site owner changes the image, it will change in your post as well! Best practice is to upload your own image (like to imgur).

HOW TO: Mention someone

By default, if you reply to a post, the mention will auto populate.

Alternatively, as soon as you type the "@" symbol, a list of suggested user names will pop up. Simply continue to type out the name of the user you would like to mention, and choose them...

Quote – this feature makes it easier to distinguish between quoted text and new reply – thus following the flow of conversation becomes easier.

Quote inline (copy-paste multiquote) – You can also copy a part of text, paste in new reply editor, select and click on quote button (rich editor toolbar)
