Very good first round. Sitting at -1, two shots behind the leaders.
Caleb is in a five way tie for FIRST at 5 under!
It seemed from the broadcasters' comments that Caleb will make the PGA tour if he wins or if he is in second on his own or (maybe) if he tied with one of the person.
There is only one choice here...just win the whole goddam thing.
Wow! Go Caleb!
The Golf Channel is carrying this tournament live from 2-5pm cst today and tomorrow.
Should get plenty of tv time as he is playing in the final group with Neil Shipley who has already secured his PGA card for next season.
After a great week Caleb finished bogey, double bogey to drop currently to T12.
He picked up a check for about 25k so finished the season with official money of $205,314. He also finished 56th on the points list. Top 50 made make it to the final round of !-school, which is a big deal. Unfortunately he'll only get to the 2nd stage but overall a VERY impressive first year in professional golf.
Caleb just finished the 2nd round of PGA qualifying, tied for 4th at his regional. Top 15 plus ties move on to the final qualifying where the top 5 (I think) get their PGA card. Anthony Delisanti made a late charge in his regional with a -5 final round. It wasn't quite enough as he needed to get to -7 to make it to the finals. Finishing where he did should get him into several Korn Ferry events this coming year. Win lose or draw, Caleb will be fully exempt on the Korn Ferry Tour next year.
Per the PGA website, it is the top 5. The PGA tour players, many of whom once had to go through Q-school, have banded together to push for fewer new players each year.
In 2025, Caleb has gone from 2185 to 419 in the World Golf Rankings.
Final Stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School started today.
Interestingly (I know this is not related to Valpo), when I looked up Caleb I happened to see one of my former students also in the final stage. I have a fond memory of him sheepishly asking to have a final exam rescheduled because he was going to play in a US Open qualifier.
Sadly Caleb has not started well
just made a birdie, now plus 2, 5 shots out of the lead. A LONG way to go.
Caleb (as well as my former student) continue to tread water around even par, which is increasingly off the pace to make the PGA tour. Would need a spectacular round (62 or less) to get into contention. Nonetheless, finishing higher in the Q school improves playing slots for the Korn Ferry Tour.
