Denver is heading to the WCC which has been their hope all along. Summit will be down to 8. ORU potentially looking at the new UAC.

Is now the time to approach St Thomas for the 12th MVC school?

I've said this in other places but there are a few paths that could be taken at this point with a varying degree of probability

Path 1: The Summit approaches the MVC about a total merger and attempts to justify this by using the restructure of the MVFC to include both Summit and MVC leadership. MVC will likely contest this one quite fiercely

Path 2: The MVC attempts to convince the CFP to jump the MVC as a conference to the FBS ranks and void some or all of the cost to do so. This path would be an out for the Summit members who play in the MVFC and would keep more FBS prospective valley members from departing(pipe dream)

Path 3: Summit continues to implode, dissolves, and the Valley absorbs a handful of its members. I actually think this is more likely than some might think considering the rumors of the Valley wanting to get to 14 teams and the Dakotas+ St Thomas makes 14

As for St Thomas. They could be a phone call, but I think their interests are elsewhere. They really like their Hockey program(Their shiny new arena is a hockey rink first and foremost, and could be looking to jump conferences depending on that much. As for basketball, I think they are attempting the a10 to Big East pipeline that Butler used.

Though I agree Hockey is important, the Big 10 is the only conference that isn't hockey only so I doubt that will come into play.

Not a bad thought about the A10 or 12 or 14 whatever they call themselves but at 14 they seem full. Should spot open I would place them behind Drake, Bradley and even Belmont should they desire a more western school. Would those be interested who knows.
