I'm still unsure of what to think about this game. I sometimes look to https://www.valpofanzone.com/community/postid/10508/
when I look at our games for how well we executed. I still don't understand how a team can go on the road to Cleveland and play well, play well against Western Michigan at home, and go on the road and play Marquette tough and almost pull out a win, but completely lay a turd on the table at home against Southern Indiana.
@covufan Its exactly how coach described it. Valpo lost their way offensively during the SIU game and needed a reality check. With 2 games worth of data...that reality check seems to have been heard by the team
Forget about the So. IN game. We stunk up the joint with a very poor performance. Coach Powell got things turned around so let's focus on the next game, and the next... Let's quit beating a dead horse!
I’m also hoping Roger learned a valuable coaching lesson and will jump on any deviation from game plans fast and forcefully. At the level we play at and the position we occupy in the MVC, performance deficiency cannot be allowed to “work itself out” during the flow of the game. We just don’t have the talent and luxury to do that.
BUT.. we have enough talent to win against any MVC opponent so long as we intensely stick to the script. Marquette proved that. That intensity and shooting should be the new standard for every player for every game going forward. Our kids have proven they can do it. Anything less is cruising and unacceptable.
