Another DIII-level commit. Good size. But I’m still hoping to see more PFL/FCS/DII “other offers” for our commits. And I am also hoping that once the portal gates really open we are able to sign some good FCS level competitors.
New Commit: Josh Ziebell 6’3 185 DB Waukesha West HS, WisconsinOffers: Mount Union, Winona State, Culver Stockton, Concordia Saint Paul, Minnesota State Moorehead, UW Lacrosse, UW-River Falls, UW- Eau Claire
Now, this “Offers” profile is a good mix of DII, NAIA scholly schools and some very good DIII programs. Mount Union jumps out. And all of those UW DIII schools — I believe that conference sent at least 4 to the NCAA playoffs and UW-River Falls is in the championship game.
This class is a little D3 comp heavy. With that being said many of our PFL/Low FCS wins have not stayed at the school. A 4/5 year athlete with 4 offseasons and years in system is much better than a marginal FCS kid who leaves at semester. Retaining these guys is everything. Waddle has gone 28/36 so far of his first class in retention. Most leaving are Fox guys
Perhaps a little bit D3 but, a school like W Plattville finished ranked in the top 25 at 16th, and they wanted him.

When I visited with Coach Waddle at Homecoming he told me that his approach is much different than Coach Fox, who relied heavily on transfers. Waddle wants to build by retention. Let's hope it works.

Probably a philosophy which was a selling point to the school during the coach interview process as well.
Yes. No high horse on the D3 after Adrian loss (Adrian DID handle the rest of their schedule by 4 scores outside of Hope).
Portal season will be interesting have roster with recruits at about 90. That is 20 guys short. No idea if our portal guys can come back. I did not see an FBS heavy contributor in our games last season

The numbers are nice but Pudget Sound looks as if they threw the ball on every play. 3 guys over 1000 yards receiving. QB 3700 yards in 10 games.
Scores and pass volume remind me of a certain era of Valpo football
@valpofb16 I thought the same thing 🤔. BTW, The UPS senior QB who did all that passing was a starter for only the first time this season — sat the bench in previous years. I notice that JD also checked the stats. Yeah, the ball was in the air 525 times to 228 rushes. Despite zero ability to play defense, UPS still managed to score 28 points a game — and not just in garbage time. Their pattern appeared to be: score a TD, give up two; score another, give up another two and so on. But watching the kid on tape, I saw good speed and sharp cuts on routes. Built a lot like Tanner Kuramata.

Maybe along with the 1-9 record for the team. :d
