3 for 23 from the arc? Something’s wrong here. When something is not working, don’t you move to another scheme? On the other hand, it is clear that to beat Valpo, opponents just have to force/allow/encourage VU into 3pt shots. Easy peasy defensive game plan. And apparently we will accommodate.
Not being disrespectful but your post reads as if you looked at the boxscore and didn't watch the game to any great degree. My comment earlier in the thread is not an exaggeration. Pick a spot on the floor and Valpo couldn't make a shot from it. Layups, pt blank putbacks, 15 footers, wide open 3's and contested 2's and 3's. It's also not the first game this season we've seen this exact scenario. It wasn't scheme although an argument can be made that the offense doesn't flow enough to get the slashers a path to the basket with the right angle.
Think about this one. Valpo had 15 offensive rebounds and had 4 2nd chance points. FOUR! That's incredible.
Very poor 3-point shooting killed Butler last night vs Creighton. BU was something like 3 for 23 also until they hit a couple at the end of the game to make it close.
@jd24 Yup, JD, I only had the benefit of LiveStats during the game and the box score at the end. Yet it was pretty evident what was happening when you read “VU Missed 3pt by_____ “ over and over. But you’re right in pointing out the lack of inside scoring — was UNI that dominant defensively inside? Only watching the game would reveal that..
