I realize she brought Huffine with her from Quincy but she simply can't play her and Shabtai at the same time. 2 of 5 players who simply can't shoot will will not work when we starve for points.
We have some size who have contributed but are starting 3 players 5-5 and under plus a 5-8 and a 5-10. Zero chance this will be successful.
I realize Rhodes and Raye-Redmond haven't played making our margin for error razor thin and she is trying things but....
@azvalpo well said. I think the starting lineup is more flexible by opponent - I think we have had 6 different starting 5s now - but the point stands with the lack of height starting off. When Rhoades and Raye-Redmond come back (assuming they are coming back, I had thought they’d be back around now), they should replace Dibb and Huffine in the starting lineup, which immediately makes the team much better, but until then feels like we’re just hoping for one magical game.
Be aware that the bottom of the MVC is totally awful. Valpo may get their first win on Jan. 3 at Evansville.
@usc4valpo in fact, Torvik ranks Indiana State, who we play Thursday, as even lower than Evansville. And yet, despite how incredibly abject the bottom of the MVC is, he only has us finishing with 1 win. Surely we can’t be that bad?

Not exactly sure how anyone has us winning at Indiana State. They are bad, also a new coaching staff and a 100% team turnover, but they have 3 D1 wins and average 72 points a game compared to our 52. Both teams give up around 80. Hopefully they are correct!!
@azvalpo right, I don’t expect that either. Especially given that ISUb beat Northern Illinois, who we…did not beat in secret scrimmage from what I’ve heard. I do know though that ISUb plays a million miles per hour - 80.5 possessions per game! Can’t quite imagine that but there will be a lot of missed shots tomorrow I can tell you that much.
I never heard of this Norvid dude but he has us 359th out of 361. Our NET Ranking is 357th
Wow, Valpo’s women’s team is at the edge of the third standard deviation of suckage. Perhaps this will end today or Saturday!
At Evansville today. They are 2-11 with wins over IU Indy and NIU. Last time out they gave Murray State a pretty good battle losing 80-90. A young roster, 1 junior no seniors.
We played better last time out. Perhaps today???
They lost to a 2-11 team by 20! I hope this does not affect recruiting, and I would not worry regarding who transfers out.
With the loss to Evansville, Valpo is 0-15, tied with two others for the worst record in the nation, and drops another notch to #360 (out of 363) in the NET rankings. The only suspense now is whether VU will ever win a game or can the team eventually claim last place!
Per team release, Maci Rhoades will redshirt this season and return to Valpo next year. Absolutely the right decision to get her a full senior year with hopefully a better team, but makes the rest of this year even bleaker.

Agreed figured this was coming. Rhodes was our top returning scorer and rebounder retrutning. I figure Raye-Redmond is the next redshirt.
Next up Bradley. Evans was not successful at Valpo except related to Bradley where she was 10-4 including wins the last 8 times we played!!
Regarding these players redshirting, it’s not a big deal as they certainly are not game changers. With an 0-15 record, no player on Valpo has irreplaceable value or should have an ego thinking they have privilege. Recruiting for next year needs to have a “fill the bare cupboard” attitude.
