Today vs EIU it looks like both Men and Women had their largest margin of victory in school history. Before somebody says EIU is not the premier swimming powerhouse (which is true) the men hadnt beat them in 8 years and have an all time of 4-17, Women are on a winning streak but have an all time of 5-14.
This appears to be a strong team on both sides. Swim teams are hard to build, so many events and relays to cover. This team might have a good year ahead of them..

Saw one of freshman was named MVC swimmer of the week, good positive press for the Beacons. I do believe there has been development as well as recruiting for which we are seeing results.
I am disappointed in the MVC and how they seem to have dropped pre & early season polls. I had hoped the swim team finally wouldnt be picked last in the MVC but no poll. Doesnt appear they will publish a MBB either, just the "tops projected teams".
Swim team markedly better since the days i was there.I had a couple buddies on the swim team and would go to the matches-awful place to watch a meet-I see they now are at Valpo HS -much better digs
If yesterdays meet re-cap is correct VU men beat Wisc Green Bay for the first time in program history? Looks like the men are 3-3 with all 3 wins D1 teams, last year was 3 total with all wins NAIA or D3. The ladies did lose to GB BUT*** If the history is correct this was the lowest margin of victory over us for women.
Dont know how far back we would have to look for a winning swim season on either side, probably back to D2 days. Looks like there is a strong chance for a winning record on both sides, maybe the first since going D1?
Saw on coaches show the head coach mentioned its not just a strong freshman group, everybody is faster this year (in part likely because the strong freshman are pushing). Interested to see this play out.
When you have a nice house, you find it easier to get recruits. As someone who swam 2.5 years in the VAC and 1.5 in the liquid safety hazard. The VAC is one of the best in the state of Indiana
@rezynezy Spot on Rez. In another life, I coached swimming at the HS level for a number of years. I took over a losing program but was fortunate to have maybe the third best facility in NY State Section 1. Being able to optimize that facility at Mt Vernon HS at 6am and 3pm every day during the season made a big difference in team progress. In three short years we went from last to Section 1 State champs - it was, most of all, the willingness of the kids to put in the hard work, but it was also important that we had a decent place to put that hard work into.
In 1962, when it opened, the ARC pool was adequate for small college swimming (that's what VU was classified as). I had a number of brothers who swam for VU and we did okay against fellow schools like St. Joe’s, DePauw, Wabash, E’ville, etc. But a lot of water has gone over the dam since then and Valpo never kept up. The VAC is a life saver for VU swimming.
@vulb62 Stacey and Adam are happy to have the VU swim team there for meets. Adam being happy because all the pool records are college kids and it shuts up the Chesterton swimmers about having records at every pool in the DAC...except 1 🤣
The swim team looked pretty amped up at the basketball game... Both teams have 3 wins which was their season total last year. Most of their D1 opponents were first half of season from the looks of it. Heading into some D3s and NAIAs both Mens and Womens are primed to finish well.
I admit I was surprised to see them all at the basketball game and was surprised at how hyped up they were....
