I was hearing both 600 and 700 and it was definitely news sources who said it at the time.

The swim team made an impact, if you watched you saw others join them even some kids even toward the end. Loud, cheering, distracting opponent, etc.

Hopefully Courtney Boyd has mentioned how this can help to the AD and staff.... Quincy is considered a very hard place to play because its loud, and often has large rowdy student section. The mens swim team maybe showed a little of how spectators can help, and maybe a little why they are such a good team (fired up, competitive, etc)

Again I think Boyd would have some insight since Quincy is known has a hard road game. Maybe getting more students there is a focus? I sadly am to far away to attend many, but always try to watch. If it would help I can buy tickets I wont use Smile

I always go to the Valpo- Drake game at Des Moines. They get their local city crowd, they have a fun pep band, and it is a enjoyable day. We go to the University Library or Lucky Horse before the game, then head out to the Knapp Center which would be ideal setup for Valpo.

Valpo looks really good, they need to keep momentum. I think the men's team should also support the women's team as they desperately need a boost.

from the rankings standpoint, Valpo moved up 22 spots in the NET from 215 to 193. ISU drops 15 spots from 58 to 73. As it stands now, this is a Q2 victory

@vu84v2 I had heard 600K, I cannot remember where I heard that from, but it was some kind of media, it may have been on Morning in the Valley or other source that covers MVC basketball. I don't think the number was pulled out of a hat but who really knows. I had also heard Cooper got 900K to go to WF, I wish I could pinpoint the exact source of that information. Either way that info is second hand to me from some type of sports coverage that got that information somehow. Paul from @thevictorybell may be the most informed of that information, not saying he knows.

I've heard between $1.2-1.4m for Cooper at Wake and $800k for All at Xavier. $75k for Tyler at Towson. No idea the rest.

@thevictorybell   Paul, is that per year or is that the total for the remainder of eligibility?  This NIL stuff is so confusing. I think most, like me, immediately assumed each year.  But upon rethinking it as if I was Wake  or  Xavier, I’d want to sew signees up for the remainder of their  eligibility. Yet…… on the other hand, might they hedge their bets and go annual just in case it doesn’t work out?  So, I’m beyond confused.

The kids were likely powells son and his friends. The ref actually kicked them out of that area with 13 seconds on the clock.

wonder if some of the guys who couldn't enter the portal fast enough after last season's Arch Madness run are now wondering what might've been.

All Wright may have thought that last night when that “not very good” Marquette team took down Xavier.

Marquette got their first win since they beat Valpo.

I had seen Xavier a few times earlier in the season and Wright was much more involved in the offense from a shot taking perspective. They did have one guard out at the time so maybe he's back.

As far as Xavier and their NIL money...don't know whether this is quite the same thing but Richard Pitino likely didn't come cheap so there's money there.

Definitely per year.

I would be shocked if any contract for multiple years of NIL would stand the court system.

However, contracts are coming. Contracts including buyouts that is

Paul is spot on here with his figures and they are per year.  Both Cooper and All chose perfect landing spots where the rosters were thin at their positions and they would have a chance to play.  I think what we are seeing is that there are levels to this and All and Coop are both struggling with their play.  Will be interesting to see if they move again after the season as their play will probably equate to lesser pay.  All returning to Valpo would be quite the story.  One can hope, his scoring would certainly help fill Dease's void and perhaps we return many of our other key pieces.

Well then, with these figures it points again to how messed up this system happens to be.

If Cooper gets $1.2m+ for bench minutes at Wake vs. much-less-than-that to star at Valpo, then it's truly pro vs. amateur/semi-pro. He's getting NBA money to be a D1 college reserve. Maybe he thought he'd be like Krikke and drop 12-15 ppg as a starter, but it's not happening for him, at least this season. Still, how do you pass up that much $$$???

By contrast, Tyler Schmidt is getting under 20 minutes a game for an 8-9 team that's 0-4 in conference. I hope the $75k was worth it, as opposed to probably starting for VU and providing much-needed scoring punch.

From what I've seen, a lot of it has to do with agents. Agents for college athletes, from what I've seen, scrape about 20% off the top for these deals. They have been known to pressure athletes into transferring for the money even if their basketball suffers as a result. The agents care about the big bucks, not the player and their development
