Welp. Every game from here on out is a must win scenario to knock UIC out of that 5th place bye spot. Drake is a beatable team, but facing any MVC team on the road is always a challenge. Will need to spread the minutes as there are 3 games this week.
CURRENT MVC TOURNEY BRACKET
Barnes and Whitaker still listed as questionable. Drake Nation sounding very depressed and uncertain.
A shorthanded road win could really build confidence!
I will be there!!
Drake misses McCullom and Sturtz and the Power D2 transfers from MW Mo St.
We are figuring out where to pub before the game...Drake is a fun place to watch a game.

Sure looks nice in pictures and on TV. Almost reminds me of what the ARC would look like if they overhauled the building completely(and if you've ever seen photos of the old knapp center. Looks a lot like the ARC too.)
If one ever wanted a case study as to why boxing out is a dying art. This game is the perfect example. A lot of fouls called on simple box outs because the person being boxed out can just flop for an easy foul call

report back the atmosphere and any notables.
Ladies and gentlemen. RPJ and the beacons have now surpassed last year's conference win total.
Certainly, a great win for our team on the road. With illinois state losing the closing stretch for a bye game just got a bit more competitive.
Great win! This team is as good as any we have had in a long time. Balanced scoring, good defense and good coaching. Don’t count the Beacons out!
The demons are exercised. 7 straight L's in Des Moines no more. Could be a season changing win. Fridays game in hind sight was a good gamble by Powell to rest Brody and "rest" Pettigrew. He curiously was not critical of his teams presser after the Ace's game, now we know why. The move to bring in Servillus in the end paid off. Good defense, rebound, knows his role! We now have more wins in conference than last year and lets hope we can steal another win in Bloomington, a place we have owned of late
We sat 7 rows behind the bench in a nip and tuck game.Valpo was very poised in the final 5 minutes and made some killer clutch shots, and got critical boards at the end. To say that the team was estatic at the buzzer would be an understatement. True, Drake is not as good as last year as not as well coached, but they have some decent players like Quinn. A big win for Valpo, and these guys are getting better. kudos to Coach Powell!
Valpo comes out ahead again by the same recent winning pattern of getting to the free throw line. Even though VU only shot 67%, their 18-27 topped Drake's 9-14. In their 7 conference wins Valpo has averaged 28 free throws taken per game. On a related note, why in the world was Hopoi on the court with 21 seconds left when we knew Drake was going to foul? That could have cost the game!

Hoppoi is on the court for defensive purposes. Sure, his shooting has not been great(although as of late he has been performing well) his defensive abilities are too much to afford to lose by taking him off the court for a scorer.

There was a stoppage of play at 22 seconds and Valpo had the ball on offense with a 3-point lead. He should have been subbed out then. There was no reason at all for Hopoi, barely a 50% shooter and 10th on the team in percentage at the line, to be on the court for a defensive purpose with 20 seconds to go and a lead of at least 3 points.
