I have never seen a box score like this. 19 percent FG?

I thought watching the women's basketball team couldn't be more frustrating, but tonight against Drake it was absolutely painful. I feel for those players on the team. VU was ahead comfortably 46-34 at the half, and they maintained the lead by as much as 7 points with only 5 minutes left in the game. At that point, ESPN gave them about a 75% chance to win. Valpo players and coaches were jumping with joy on the bench. They still led at the 4 minute mark, but then they totally collapsed as Drake scored 15 straight points in those closing minutes. Final score was a Drake win at 79-68.

Yikes, I have been to multiple women's games this year and they are playing so hard, never give up, and have not quit. They deserve a win this year so bad and I really wish it would happen for them.

These kids are playing hard, and it sucks that they could not pull it out last night, but let’s face the fact that the overall talent level is very low. It will be interesting to see how well they recruit and hit the transfer protocol. There’s a lot of opportunities for recruits to get playing time and make an immediate impact. I also feel a bunch of current players will leave, just because of the state of college hoops today.

Last night proved we had no idea what to do in a close game ending situation. Up 7 at 5:22 and our most consistent player Connolly gets her first shot at 1:14. By that time we are down 6. Von Schlegell took 0 shots down the stretch and Connolly only two the second a layup with seconds left. Nenadic took one. I was hoping this would be the one, the next four look like blowouts

Both Niagara and Central Connecticut State won today leaving us as the only zero win team.

Looks like we have a shot at opening with Drake in the MVC tournament so this is some hope.

We finish with 3 at home against #1, 2, 4 so the conference tourney may be our only bet.

2007-2008 NJIT was 0-29, the last winless D-1 season.

There is a very good chance the Valpo women’s team will finish 0-32. Next year, how many wins are required to keep Boyd off the hot seat?

We have same amount of scholarships as the rest of the MVC. Last two losses in conference were a combined 80 points. 0-29 should be immediately moved on from

Next season starts with smarter scheduling. Open the regular season with a non D1. There are 4 NAIA schools in Indiana with 4 wins or less. Open with IU Columbus. It sounds better plus I am from there.

Next schedule one of those 4 team 3 day events at home. Invite Niagara, CCSU and one other perhaps Presbyterian or Bellarmine.

i am not a big believer in canceling players scholarships but there needs to be some serious discussions at year end.

Is Raye Redmond coming back will she be healthy? We have heard nothing about her all season.

Swedlund is graduating so we now have 2 open scholarships.

Speaking of Swedlund, kudos to the team and players on the court at the end yesterday. They got her 4 shots trying to score. By all accounts a great kid devastated by injuries.

Those days are gone. It’s all business now. She came in late and had to keep players a couple of which never saw the floor. I’m sure she has a five year contract but expect big changes to the team. It’s just how it is.

To my knowledge, universities cannot cancel an athletic scholarship without cause - and poor play is not cause. They can tell them they will get no playing time and recommend going elsewhere, but little more can be done (despite the NIL and transfer portal world that we are in).
