The thing about Brody was his maturity being in his last year. That was invaluable to our freshman who no longer are freshman. So now we look for a 3 or so year guard who can fill it up like Brody.
So am I…. But it seems that the consensus here is that this team needs, from a composition/chemistry POV, a ‘Whitaker 2.0’ and this guy is 1” taller plus, from the lone video, the kid seems quicker than Brody and likes to mix it up on penetration as well as pop from the arc. Isn’t that the classic 2? Nice combo. ………. then, of course, there’s also the sibling thing that could help the culture along (or not) 🙄
None of us really know what Powell has in mind, or what his transfer portal recruitment strategy looks like. I think a few of us just like to find guys who may possibly fit and that logically could be in play for Valpos situation, monetarily and chemistry wise. In JT’s bothers case it could be relevant to pay attention to simply like when Cooper came back for year 2 his brother showed up on the team. For all we know coach Powell may have a power 5, 15 ppg, 6’6” shooting guard from Chicago looking to finish his collegiate career close to home. Or maybe someone in Dease’s position last year. The transfer portal is just interesting to follow in general, for me anyways. We really have no idea and it’s just fun, this year anyways 😂. Just curious what tangibles from your perspective does this team need to fill in next year what characteristics does that player have or play with? I’m saying a Brody 2.0 but there are a lot of guys on this forum that have watched Valpo ball for a decade or better, I have only been following the team since Powell arrived.
Just wait for the Boom tweet. Bringing sibling ln board is interesting, similar to Carson and Cooper
Eleven years ago to the day I took the following photo at the Selection Sunday celebration in the Harre Union at the moment CBS announced the Crusaders' bracket. Despite all the flaws in the current transfer and portal system, I view this off season as an opportunity to return to the Tournament and some similar fan support if the right players are found to fill a few available spots.
4 MVC teams in the NIT, 1 in NCAA tournament. CBI was cancelled this year..... This time next year VU will be in that mix.

I think it’s safe to say that we were in the mix for making the NIT this season. If a couple more games fall our way, we’re in. I think of AJ Casey’s 37-point game, a 2OT conference tournament game, OT at Marquette, and a few more.
Just saw this player on Verbal commits transfer list and I would think could be an asset to VU.
Jake Fiegen, Cornell shooting guard. 6'4 JR from WINNETKA, IL. New Trier HS. 17.1 pts/g. 5 reb/g. 41% 3 point shooting. (.546) shooting percentage over 24 games with 17 starts and 626 min played. Close to home town a plus unless he is seeking a bigger school.
Back to Boom season. If I had to take a guess, it’s either another player returning or an incoming freshman.

Love it!

As of today we have no open scholarships
Wouldnt be suprised if it was Trey. Portal for levels outside of D1 is open

It is not Trey. There are a few open roster spots and the staff can be selective which is a luxury considering how many new guys we needed in previous years around this time.
@backagain2024 like I said. Portal for all levels outside of D1 is what is open and theories are based off of that and who would likely be a candidate. You could also make a case for it being Tyler parrish who attended uindy and is a former star for chesterton
Per Paul Oren it's Dylan Moles from Greenfield indiana
