Seems like someone they want to fill the Whittaker hole. Will be curious to see how he pans out
Moles is a puzzling intitial pick from the portal. In 2024-25 he had a great season, shooting 52% from the field, 43% from the 3-point line, and 98% on free throws (53-54)! However, in 2025-26 his field goal shooting dropped to 45% with 3-point shooting down to only 27%, while his free throws were at 87%. I am not sure if he was dealing with an injury that would explain the discrepancy, but I hope we get the 2024-25 version.
All Wright into the portal!
@valpopal if I'm reading brodys stats right he took a noticable jump from his time at u Indy to Valpo. Brody also was at marion prior to his stint at u indy

There is a note on the Marion website that he missed 2 games last season due to injury.
I am assuming that D Moles is currently at Marian College in Indy? How much eligibility would he have left?

I hinted about Moles last week when I said..... think a path similar to Brody for the first signing. I believe they went to the same high school, then both went to Marion. Yes, there were some injury issues and overriding program issues that caused that whole team to struggle last year. I do not think the staff has any concern that Moles will not be a productive shooter/scorer. The good news is that Justus is back so Moles won't have quite the burden that Brody did should Justus make another natural jump.
Now we get selective with the final few pieces!
A significant shooting upgrade that will replace Brown Jr.
Moles played against Saint Mary of the Woods two seasons ago when Tupuola and Coach McClung were there.
I’m guessing that Valpo has done their homework with Moles and figured out he can contribute in the Valley.
Moles and Whitaker went to different High Schools. Greencastle for Whitaker and Greenfield for Moles. Moles was a freshman when Whitaker was a Junior at Marian. Moles played last couple of years with Luke Carroll who a walkon at VU 2 years ago.
I believe the board was correct in identifying the team’s needs. Many of us anticipated that the solution would likely come from the Division II or NAIA level long before any boom got posted—and for good reason. This staff has consistently demonstrated an ability to efficiently evaluate players who can elevate their game and successfully translate to the Missouri Valley.
Last season, 40% of our starting five was built through this approach. Because of that track record, I don’t question the player evaluation process—rather, I trust it, there is no reason for me to think Moles won't contribute positively next year.
With this position now addressed and secured, we may have the luxury of being more selective moving forward. That said, we still need to be very targeted. One of the reasons this team took a step forward last year was its increased size, which allowed the Beacons to play with greater physicality, this punished teams in the closing segments of games allowing Valpo to pull many close ones out victoriously.
IMHO, the next priority should be adding a wing in the 6’6”–6’8” range—someone who can contribute in multiple ways and impact both ends of the floor. Additionally, I don’t believe the roster additions will stop at just one more player, as roster movement and a few players transferring out, wouldn't be unexpected or a surprise in today's landscape.
Finding a tall, versatile, experienced scoring threat to replace Owen Dease will be difficult to achieve. Do we yet have any known or rumored targets?
@justducky portal is still pretty quiet. Expect more heat when the portal opens on April 7
Pure Fantasy speculation on my end, but what are the % chances All Wright ends up back at Valpo?
Also any word on Tupolo coming back or not?
Never say Never but it's gotta be close to 0 on both ends
1. Even dropping down in price there's no way we have near the NIL money he probably could get elsewhere.
2. The guard position is not where we need help and support right now and the staff just made a big deal about Rak and Justus sticking around and I think to bring All in would feel like a bit of a slap in the face to them.
No news I've seen from Shon, Carter, Mark, or Tucker. I'd assume at least 1-2 of that group might be gone. I really hope Shon sticks around but while it's true that he's only been with us for a year it's hard to now see him as having put in the work and if he only has a year of eligibility left couldn't begrudge him a good pay day.
