As the schedules start to trickle out with the non-con, it would be nice to have a place to post announcements and discuss the schedule if there is interest.

Anyone have any idea how many buy games we play? Is there a $$ figure required by the program to earn each year? Going to OSU last year was probably one, I wonder what something like that pays?

Back in the day Oakland stocked their non-con with buy games. Kampe was very good at getting $$$$ for getting clobbered (but not always). And his HL teams seemed to be better for the experience.

@vulb62 Oakland has had some good years. I’d love to see them on our schedule!

I wonder how many pay games valpo will play and how many are needed to support the program. Thanks for that information!

Football has long been supporting its program with one or two body bag non-con games each season. In the PFL, the non-con is merely a way to fill out the schedule, develop as a team and make a few bucks along the way. At the end of the day, it’s all about your record in conference and seeking the AQ regardless of overall record.

Perhaps, until Roger can sort out how to become a consistent challenger in the MVC, he should seriously consider the Kampe approach and pull in as many pay days as he can. I see, as a minimum, three advantages in this approach: 1) The obvious - $$$$$; 2) Recruiting benefits - being committed to providing a serious showcase for potential recruits and transfers in non-con games against four, five or more games against top 50 FBS programs; and 3) It hardens players for MVC competition.  And unlike football, where possible injury playing against bigger, faster, stronger scholly players is an obvious concern, that is not much of a factor in BB.

While I good idea in theory, the MVC probably wouldn't allow it. They want the NETs to increase across the board. To boost the overall Qs. Having a team tank their NET for a few extra bucks won't go over well

Regarding the OAKLAND PROGRAM AND kING kAMPE, they have had many pay-to play games in the past however they sure have not been as major factor let alone a dominating factor in their conference. When is the last time they have won it...if any?  Their big pay day games basically fund their entire athletic program as I understand it.

@rezynezy   Wouldn’t DI SOS be a positive?  Wouldn’t a Valpo upset win or two  🤞🏻  be a positive?

@vulb62 oh absolutely, but from my understanding is you have to keep those losses close for the net to be kind to the "lesser team". Based on past occurrence I just don't trust the team to keep high quality buy games close. Especially in the era where these buy games occur where a team is still trying to synergize with each other early on in the season. The Arch Madness Valpo would have played a close match with OSU. This is where I feel like a mid-season challenge with another conference or the Revival of bracket busters could be a really good event for teams to get their nets boosted

@rezynezy It would be awesome to see a conference challenge with the A10, MWC, or CUSA or something like that.
