Just finished watching the show from Valpo Wings etc (I think) and had a couple of observations.  Gotta love Carin Avery and what she has done for the volleyball program.  Expect big things there this season with the entire roster returning other than a couple of graduates.  She mentioned Valpo beating Notre Dame this spring in a match held in front of 3000 fans.  That must have been something!

Then there was Coach Waddell.  I really like this guy and would be surprised if we don't see some win improvement.

Then there was Coach Powell who mentioned the effort to get bigger as well as adding some maturity. I think he has both.  He mentioned Deese and Barnes in that regard as well as freshman Pettigrew and Hopoi.

Coach Boyd is impressive.

Several others made solid impressions as well but I need to also mention the spin a couple of our least successful coaches added.

When asked how the season went, Coach Schmack said..."we finished strong".  Yep, sure did, won the last two to get all the way up to 10 wins for the entire season.

When asked what goals this coach had for next season, Coach McCoy of Women's golf added..."we just want to keep moving in the right direction".  I suppose that means only finishing last in the conference by 10 shots versus 20 this season.  Geez.

Overall some very positive and impressive people.  Worth a look if you get a chance.

Coach Powell is such a gem.  Hi successes will be a canary in the coal mine for Valpo's future!
