IDK if this is just a me issue, but the mics on the announcers are really quiet compared to the commercials. I have to remember to immediate lower the volume during a commercial break lest my speakers get blown out
I would say VU Lynchburg is closer to College of Faith than a Functioning NAIA level football team. Hard to really get much out of this level of competition.
But we took care of business and the game will count in the win column
Nice to see a Valpo grown player get some meaningful minutes. Liam was a really good kicker and @vulb62 will appreciate that he was also a swimmer in addition to his kicking duties for VHS
...and with that, Keefe looks like a completely different guy in the 3rd Q.
Absolutely. I'm speculating that the coaches did a great job with Keefe and the rest of the team during halftime. Basically got these guys to realize that they should be fully dominant over this opponent.
I've been reading Paul's Victory Bell pieces about this team, and I'm picking up a very good vibe about this coaching staff.
Watched most of the second half (yeah, nothing much to do today). Some interesting observations:
-Found out that Valpo's punter from last year (Sam Johnson) transferred to USC and (from what I read) will be their starting punter. Also saw that a Valpo player from last year is starting at middle linebacker for highly rated FCS team South Dakota.
-Never saw a game in which the refs looked so confused. Spotting a touchback at the 15, not remembering that you can add on penalty yardage when the penalty is on the punting team, etc. Todd was between amused and dismayed.
-Don't remember seeing a penalty for having two players with the same number on the field (and sharing numbers seemed unnecessary for Lynchburg)
-UVA-Lynchburg seemed to be barely a team. Todd said the roster given was quite a bit different than who played.
I think a lot of VUL and their situation can be summed up in what they are describes as. "The Bishop Sycamore of College". The university and its athletics are chalk full of red flags.
It’s more struggling HBCU trying to field a college football team than Bishop Sycamore. College of faith was more Sycamore. This team had several transfers from legitimate NCAA programs (not good programs, legitimate). Just tough to start up. Games stats will count , VU Lynchburg will head back to their campus.
it was a ham & egger for Valpo and they preformed as such. Don’t expect anything much different next week within reason

IDK in doing some digging on them they seem to be a lot more than simply a struggling HBCU program. there is a whole hashtag on twitter used by recruits to bash the program and for players/coaches to give their VUL horror stories
As I mentioned earlier in the week, these first two non-con games (VUL and Adrian) were the absolute best first steps for Waddle’s new program. Adrian should be better and give these kids a bit more of a challenge. These two games are nothing more than tune-up scrimmages for our “real non-con” and PFL schedule.
And it also occurred to me that WIU is also part of a possibly planned progression as they are generally weaker than North Dakota. It’s like Valpo is climbing a ladder.
And………. Interesting observation at the Victory Bell. Is this the first time that a prayer of thanks was given there? I don’t recall that happening at the (few) winning games I was at in the past.
Anyway, Coach Waddle, congratulations. You are undefeated in your first season at Valpo and it makes us all proud. And, oh BTW, the Mansaray/McNeely two headed monster flashed a little bit of what I hope they will do in the PFL.

That might be the case, but ya got to hope they are trying to be fully legit. Anyway - it’s in the books. Water under the bridge. On to Adrian!
