I have previously been critical of scheduling. However, it looks like the program has done a great job on this year's schedule. Hopefully, we'l get some strong performances against the more marquee teams.
@vu84v2 I would assume this schedule is indicative of both Powell wanting to give his guys good battles and the new MVC scheduling mandate
Here is a quick breakdown of Valpo’s schedule based on 2024-2025 KenPom rankings:
Average Ken Pom: 1605 / 10 = 160.5
Quad 1 - 3
Quad 2 - 0
Quad 3 - 3
Quad 4 - 4
I also completed these calculations for all MVC non-conference schedules thus far. Valpo has the most quad 1 games, the second most difficult schedule based on average KenPom, and plays 3 March Madness teams. Even the quad three games are against other solid mid major programs. Valpo will most definitely be battle tested going into MVC play. I think a realistic expectation should be starting around 6-5 (with the 11th game being the non D1 game).
This is the exact reason why we are a D1 school. Having the opportunity to play against a blue blood school, March Madness teams, and an in-state foe is so much fun to watch. Now let’s just hope all of Roger’s hard work translates into more wins.
Well done on the schedule!
What is that saying.
Iron Sharpens Iron
The team grit and grill scrimmage is October 11th, according to Coach Powell.
Any word on the conference schedule? Last year it was released on September 20th.
@tjjvalpo Reports are that the conference schedules for both the men’s and women’s teams will be released simultaneously. I’m seeing that they should be released “very soon”.
