I attended the webinar this evening and had a pretty good experience. Hosmer sat in the hot seat and answered as many direct questions as possible. Not many ADs would have direct communication with fans, alumni, etc like this. This also offered general clarification regarding NIL, the settlement, the overall landscape, etc. My big takeaway was that they are doing their best to launch the in-house collective, the Excellence Fund, in December. This will remove a significant barrier to communication between current NIL fund(s) and the athletic department. Also, this will provide athletic teams more transparency on how much they can offer specific players. Lastly, it will make donating simpler because it is all in one centralized location. Overall, this is great news. I’m happy to see that they are working to stay competitive, trying new things, and not putting their tail between their legs.

I also was on the presentation and was equally impressed with her knowledge and presentation as to how this all affects Valpo. We are in good hands.

I expect these kinds of events to be commonplace at Valpo Athletics Donor related events moving foreword. As some have stated (and certain MVC podcasts have made a point of emphasis) Valpo donors were questioning "What is NIL" just last year. If you want people to buy in, they need to understand what the process is moving foreword.

Money runs the world of college athletics. Valpo doesn't have "no" money, but the money Valpo does have isn't going to be enough to keep the top guys

It was recorded but I don't know how to access it. I'd email Laurel or Brandon for the link.

This AD seems to have a much better handle on how to navigate the changing landscape of college athletics.Although Padilla screwed up pretty much everything else-this is one he got right
