Valpo is 2-1 against the torreros in their last 3 games. The Torerros have a brand new coach. Who is in his second year of coaching overall. They are 5-4 with wins over Princeton, Saint Thomas, Davidson, Dayton.
Valparaiso needs to compete on Saturday. A Coach 100+ games in should have a competitive advantage over someone in their second season coaching in Brandon Moore. (Moore was in the National championship in Division 2 last season in year 1 of that tenure)
Fun question: what current NFL quarterback previously played for San Diego and beat Valpo?

Johnson. Not sure of first name
Josh Johnson, who also holds the NFL record for most NFL teams that a player has suited up for (14).
I always look forward to the San Diego game! I hope the Channel 4 news team will be there to provide full coverage at the beautiful Mecca of football, Brown Field…

This is a bit misleading. His resume is a helluva one.
Starting LB at Oklahoma. 7 Seasons in the NFL. 6 seasons as an assistant coach at DII Colorado Mines. Promoted to HC in 2022 and took them to the DII National Championship game. Repeated that in 2023. Signed on with USD as their HC for 2024 - turned USD from a 4-7 team in 2023 into an 8-3 winner last season. In his second year at USD, they are currently 5-4 in 2025.
Brandon Moore’s HC Record in two seasons at Colorado Mines (27-4) and the 2024 and 2025 (so far) seasons at USD (13-7) is 40-11 with 6 years as a defensive assistant and DC to back that up.

Dude, Chill! You are on a roll beating up on Padilla, Waddle and now Brown Field! Check with you therapist and stay away from sharp objects!
Padilla, yes, he is scum. Waddle, the jury is out. Brown field can be better, but needs some renovations.
Ron Burgandy: I’m in a glass case full of emotions.
Well in all fairness Padilla, Waddle, and Brown Field are all near the bottom of their prospective field in their prospective collegiate landscapes.
Wheres the pitchfork crowd about settling for mediocrity?
But in all seriousness. I miss looking forward to brief stint where the Torreros week was discussing a possible win
Some more fun...Reid Sinnett from Johnston, IA HS where we live and my daughters went, was QB at USD and tried to make it in the NFL and XFL

- Brian Fantana: I think I was in love once.
- Ron Burgundy: Really? What was her name?
- Brian Fantana: I don't remember.
- Ron Burgundy: That's not a good start, but keep going...
- Brian Fantana: She was Brazilian, or Chinese, or something weird. I met her in the bathroom of a K-Mart and we made out for hours. Then we parted ways, never to see each other again.
- Ron Burgundy: I'm pretty sure that's not love.
- Brian Fantana: Damn it.
Watched the weekly interview with Andy. He is such a likeable guy. The Guy and Coach are two separate entities. I hope that they win this weekend big time
@valpofb16 - agreed, I think he cares for his players and wants success. I hope he learns and can make Valpo football successful. I would give him some grace —— but not too much like they did Carlson.

Agreed. I was in town for Homecoming and decided to just walk down the hill unannounced and asked to speak with the coach. I was ushered into his office and he spent a good 20 minutes with me explaining his approach and some additional insights. A very nice, bright guy.
I communicated with Coach Waddle on day one after his hire, and we’ve chatted online as well. Agreed. Definitely a good guy. No doubt, he can get kids to buy into his concepts and play for him. He can succeed at VU. But there is a big but: at what talent level will the buy-in and play-for happen? And success depends on that.
I go back to my comments at his hire and my more recent concerns. I believe Coach Waddle did not fully understand what he was getting into. He relied on what he knew, and what he knew was the DIII way of life. In that context, our first recruiting effort was not at the FCS talent level (and that’s where we play boys and girls, though our league is at the bottom of the FCS pecking order) — few PFL sought signees and an initial comment about building from the bottom up (my words) rather than hitting the portal super hard in year one.
This season is a loud whup upside the head. Starting the day after the final seconds tick down to zero against Butler, we will see if and how Andy responds to the reality of football at Valpo. We’ll get a good indication as we follow recruiting efforts. I sincerely wish him and his staff well.
In the meantime, I hope we can stay inside of two TDs against USD and that school down south and pull one out against Stetson.
Big game coming up...
- Ed Harken: A lot of you have been hearing the affiliates complaining about a lack of diversity on the news team.
- Champ Kind: What in the hell's diversity?
- Ron Burgundy: Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
- Ed Harken: Ron, I would be surprised if the affiliates were concerned about the lack of an old, old wooden ship, but nice try.
