I have to question why no effective adjustment was made by the coach during the game to stop the easy layups. Indiana State outscored Valpo on points in the paint by 54-36! Oddly, Valpo won this game at the 3-point line 8-19 vs 4-15, and they nearly lost it with their poor free throw shooting at under 50%. Further, I really feel for Indiana State, which lost its coach and conference MVP player who are now leading a top-20 team with a 24-1 record.
Much to my surprise Micah Shrewsbury and Brad Steven’s sat over my right shoulder today. They tolerated a brief conversation with me. Brad noticed me right as I snapped this!
That’s two games in a row where teams have backcut us to death. Had we not shot lights out in the first 25 minutes, we would have lost this game.

escaped with a win today. Missed free throws kept game closer than it needed to be. No adjustments to Sycamore’s offensive sets. Chaney can score but his defense is garbage. I guess the way this season is going to be, the inability to throttle teams, pull away when the lead is stretched. Appreciated the crowd today. Let’s win out the rest of the season!!
Saw some of the second half. Liked the size of the crowd and the energy from the students.
However, it is pretty said if it has become acceptable to scout players from mid-major teams during the season. Not surprised, but it says that mid-majors will never again be competitive with teams from the Power 5 conferences.

I will take a Win any way we can get it. We had more points when the horn sounded, increased the win column number. Our defense could have played better, getting beat on the back screens, paint flashes, and cutters was getting annoying. Also need to get back into our free throw cadence. Bradley up next in the ARC, I have a feeling it’s going to be an absolute dog fight!

ESPN claims that only 2k fans were in attendance. I saw a packed ValparaZONE and a packed Lower deck on the bleacher side....
Currently Valpo can hope to catch Illinois state and UNI as they are 9-7 and log jammed for the bye
