I dont think the mascot will ever not be a topic for some people. Especially with the age demograpic of Valpo fans that are left. Stereotypically it is a demographic that isnt to fond of change.

understood but beyond adulthood. Did they get a degree from the crusader or Valpo? If your loyalty is that thin then it really wasn’t worth much to begin with. It’s kinda like dropping your support because they torn down the old union or library. Don’t get me started…ok, too late. I’ll shut up now.
@rezynezy I wonder how mad people will be when they realize crusaders are not even the original mascot. In fact the original mascot was the Uhlan until the sometime in the 40s I believe. It was changed then due to its connection to Nazi Germany.
This is purely my factless opinion on the direction this one particular thread is going (and should probably be continued on a new, different thread):
If we had not aspired way over our head with our questionable facilities (currently, after 8 years in the MVC, that have not appreciably changed, except for some infrastructure and cosmetic upgrades), and a revenue generation history that never was MVC level,
AND
….. had we stayed in the HL over the past eight years we would have, IMO, gone to at least two or three March Madness dances as HL champs, AND our gym, despite being what it is, would have been consistently half full (as a minimum), incredibly energetic season after season, and just a fun place to be.
And, yes, the portal as well as NIL would have taken its toll if we were still in the HL. BUT, and this is a big BUT, Valpo would be confronting these issues from a totally different perspective: a league leader and a winning program, rather than a bottom feeder.
BUT THAT IS WATER THAT LONG AGO WENT UNDER THE BRIDGE. We can’t go back.
The $64,000 question is where do we go next to reclaim the same atmosphere that all of us remember in the Drew era? And, maybe, even can we?
Oh, BTW, had Valpo ponied up the million$ required to compete at the MVC level right away, you can disregard all of the above.
