Paul Oren is reporting that Coach Waddle has his entire staff back, intact. That Certainly never happened when Coach Fox was here--or for that matter probably very few spots around the country! Should bode well going forward.
Paul's report on new defensive players shows that we are adding some much needed size, as in height. D Line adds 5 guys 6'3"ot taller, LB adds 4 at 6'0" or better and DBs add 5 guys 6' or taller including one at 6'3" and one at 6'4"! In these cases size does matter but talent still is the key component.
@vu72 To add to your post.
7 DL average = 6’3” 239#
4 LB average = 6’1” 221#
6 DB average = 6’ 0” 180#
Both LB and DB groups seem to have the height/weight proportions that project very positively. They should compete for snaps from the get go.
The DL group’s height/weight proportions are very good but more from a height perspective. Only two of the players 6-3 or above are heavier than 225 - so they as a group are a bit on the lighter side overall IMO. Guess what I am sayin is that putting a 6’4” DL out there who is only 215# or 225# will allow 300# OLs to drive them off the ball with little effort. But these are bodies that can add more bulk on those taller frames over the next 4-5 years. However, there are three DLs with very good proportional size at 6’2” 254#, 6’3” 255#, and 6’3” 275# who could compete for snaps right away. But this is all on paper and doesn’t account for heart and drive.
Paul’s transfer writeup is next, and that should be even more interesting. Those players would be the guys that we should consider as the hole-fillers that project onto the 2-deep right away. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

As long as he can keep his OC and DC on board things should definitely improve.

@kevin-watson Pack mittens or 2 pairs of gloves, warm caps, down vest, puffy jacket. 😅
If assigned to Wehrenberg as a freshman, be prepared for the coldest, windblown walk your young man will ever experience just getting to the union and then on to the football facility.
But that short winter time window is totally worth it. It’s a great campus, full of great people. Your nephew will love it. The midwest culture is so welcoming.
Anybody attending the Spring Game today? Be interested in any observations.
@vulb62 I was at the Spring game on Saturday. I may not be the best to give a review as I was there in support of my son (who is a new recruit), but I will tell you what I saw: First the R. Keefe did not dress for this one as he is out with an injury (not believed to be serious). Valpo only had 3 rbs dress. The main observation is the offense looked lack luster (was it bad offense or was it the defense playing well?). QBs were #6 and number #15 and one other saw action. #6 had the play of the game, on a busted play, he juked a defender out put his foot in the ground and went about 50 yards untouched to the end zone. Very impressive speed. However, in his next series he threw into traffic ball got tipped and picked off. #15 looked like the better pocket thrower however no QB completed any deep ball. All were check offs or intermediate throws. The defense got a pick 6 I believe it was off of #15 but I am not 100%. Running game was non existent as RBs were bottled up and no runs over 10 yards that I recall. Game left a lot to be desired unless you were rooting for the defense. That is how I saw it. Anyone else there?
