Couldn’t watch and just checked LiveStats. Aside from scoring against a pretty good defense (including 3 TD passes), one thing that jumped out at me was 3 more picks. The other was giving up 100 yards+ and 2 rushing TDs to BOTH of their RBs. 🥺  Have to look in more detail and wait for the TVB account.

Micah Markley left the game with an injury. Was a massive drop off in production after his exit. Rowan is up to 14 picks. Presser you could see pain, I hope Rowan is back next year after the leash extended this year.

I followed the game only on Live Stats, so I don't know how bad Rowan's 3 ints looked -- on 30 pass attempts. His overall season passing stats look decent, but that interception rate (14 ints on 153 pass atts) is unheard of at any level of the game these days. What's going on there? Although he has genuine talent, why isn't anyone else getting some time at QB?

No real information as to why he has not been pulled. Caron has obviously outperformed him during his Valpo tenure. I agree that the leash being at 14 picks (4 games splitting time) is really unheard of. It has to be a program record.

My hope is that Rowan has informed the staff he is bought in for year 5 and that this is a developmental year. The press conference did not assure that. My fear is that he is gone after the season and we missed a year developing Tyler,Brown, Downey and it still resulted in league low results

Looks like Duncan had 13 in 2019. , group of guys accounted for 12 in 2010, 18! Were thrown in 2015

It was an exciting game with lots of indications of progress with even more freshman in the game due to injuries. Yes Rowan threw some picks—and a couple of bad picks—but he also threw a couple of beautiful TD passes.
I know we want wins but at this point in the season I’m looking for positives. Here’s one: we led one of the top teams at half, going blow for blow. We’ve got some talented freshman. There is some hope.

Genuine curiosity , what freshman were in outside of the norm? I saw Feltrinelli, Ricketti, Theiss , Little, Long who are all sophomores school wise and have played all year (outside of Long injury), Markley and Rumoro were the only two true I saw (McBride with Markley injury)

I get Rowan has developed and thrown some nice balls. My point is if Rowan has spent this year developing and then graduates and we finish 1-11, a freshman Downey/Brown or our incumbent .500 QB Caron Tyler could have done that.  No real way to sugarcoat the QB season. Rowan is 0-15 as a starter, Caron was 5-5. 0-15 record with 14 picks in your senior year, no school in America is doing that

Valpo was more competitive today against an underachieving San Diego team than certainly had to be limited playing in weather they are not accustomed to.

as for Keefe, a terrible season and Valpo needs to move on. I can’t believe there is concern if he leaves after this season. I just don’t understand why Waddle stayed with him.

Not even a concern. Just more trying to find the reasoning and staying the course. Duncan threw 13 picks in 2019 but Fox was very open about his leadership on the team and how pivotal he was during the Pandemic.

Maybe it’s more private but have not heard the same sentiment from Waddle on Keefe. Tyler is more pressing issue. Best athlete on team and cannot see the field? Anywhere? Still 5-5 as a Valpo QB, believe it’s him, Nimz, and Macchi since 2003 to be .500 or better.

Just really an oddity. Like I said, I can get the value of working through it if that’s the guy long term. If not, well, what’re we doing? Stetson has 3 wins playing a FR at QB.

Is Tyler injured? Seems to me he went out either last game or game prior with something which is how we ended up with Downey at QB. I agree with the thought of let's see a guy more likely to be around next year in there now.

While closer yesterday and I appreciate kick returns as much as the next guy, keep in mind that a lot of the "offense" was not really offense and Keefe is so prone to Int's that it's unlikely that the offense scores on the drives which, if you take away the return, would have occurred.

Tyler was listed on the 2 deep but I think was out for Homecoming with a concussion protocol.  Probably available only in an emergency. Looking at the 2 deep for San Diego, I counted 25 of 42 either freshman, sophomore, red-shirt freshman or red- shirt sophomore. Players are learning and it is showing, but considering a new OC and DC this year, it make the youth even more of an issue.
