55-17 Final.

Best chance at a PFL win will be against Morehead State next weekend, or Stetson on 11/15. The rest of the schedule does not appear that promising.

Only bright spot today was Mansaray averaging 6 yards a carry with 121 yards rushing.

I don't think they'll beat Morehead. Pray for 15 degree weather for Stetson. A team from Florida won't like that.

@jd24 Yeah, Morehead beat Marist and had the game pretty much under control. PC beat Stetson, but only scored 42 points against the Hatters.  😉. First year Butler coach won again today.

It’s becoming pretty clear that, despite having a sporadic offense that has a propensity to turn the ball over, worse, our defense is a shadow of its former self.  This in only 10 months.

Fox’s offenses were nothing to write home about in many of his seasons, but you could count on his defenses to keep scores at least within reason. Not this season. And if Coach Waddle  cannot immediately reverse his recruiting approach and ditch the DIII mindset, we’re in big trouble — not for just next year but seasons afterward.

The defense is worrisome. This is not an attack on Andy Waddle the guy. Seems like a fantastic individual, early returns is this is not working. If we were losing close games or competing for a half. That is one thing.

3/14 TD-INT ratio suggests something is actually wrong with the offense chosen for this set of players. Could be a fantastic offense, could be fantastic players. The combination is evidently not working.

The defense also is not working. To have a rusher for 121 and 6ypc, and the opposing team has 41 essentially starting the second half . They are giving up CHUNK plays. I do not know how you stop the bleeding at this point.

Stetson and Morehead State have PFL wins. We are not there yet. For the “let Waddle get his guys crowd” , 60% of the roster is his. For the “He competed in a great Divison 3 conference”crowd, 9 of his 13 games against Mount Union were not within 50 points.

I am rooting hard for the families , players, coaches involved. If we get housed against Morehead and Stetson, leads back to leash question asked about here.

Also, will it take us another 2 coaches and 10 years for .500 level PFL football again?

What a train wreck. I also have to wonder what’s in Keefe’s head right now.

If past performance is any indicator of future success, it took Coach Waddle four seasons to achieve his first winning season at Marietta. In that span giving up 40, 50 and 60+ points in games was commonplace — even in eventual wins. That pattern of giving up boatloads of points seems to be repeating itself this season as well.  The vibe seems more Carlson than Cecchini/Fox.

Keefe didn't enter until the 3rd quarter.

My guess is he wouldn't be around for those 4 seasons and wouldn't deserve to be.

In my opinion, the thought that the program is in a better place today than it was at the end of last season is preposterous.

If Hosmer is the AD that doesn’t settle for mediocrity (which would be nice right about now) like everyone said she was. There will be a move made maybe as soon as 2026 if this continues

Agree.  Sometimes a program needs to take a small step backward and regroup to make larger gains in the future.  But that usually assumes a dysfunctional team with chaotic leadership. That was not the case during the Cecchini/Fox years. Yes, during the Fox regime we lost more than we won, but almost from the start we were in most games (excluding body bag paycheck games) and seldom got embarrassed in conference play. We’re being embarrassed right now.

We are 0-3.  Have scored the fewest points (27) in league play.  Given up the most points (137, tied with Davidson).  And our next opponent, MSU (1-3) has almost tripled our offensive output and allowed 118 in 4 games.  A win, while not out of the question, will be a steep uphill battle.  And maybe we can keep the score reasonable with 2-2 Stetson, but, at this point, forget about PC, USD and Butler.

Cecchini took Carlson's team and made it a coherent and much more competitive unit. Fox took Cecchini's team and made it a bit better....certainly from a competitive standpoint in being in most, if not all games. Waddle has taken Fox's unit and turned it into Carlson's team.

Full circle.

Also....while I'd like to think an administration could step back and say they've made a mistake with this hire, it is unlikely because I have my doubts the administration cares that much to make a move this soon and they won't pay to do so.

So we'd better hope the "Waddle takes time to build his teams" scenario plays itself out.

I think Fox pushed on the administration too much. For portal acquisitions, assistant coach salaries , competitive non con home games. Stuff that the Daytons, Drakes , San Diego’s of the world are able to do. And probably what Fox was used to being able to do.

Waddle appears to have been a swing in the other direction. Patience over results. I am rooting for Waddle , but a few things. 1) I would not bet my life Hosmer will be here for the duration of his 5 year contract, 2) How long do these kids paying 30k+ a year want to stay in Northwest Indiana and not be competitive? (Massive issue for Carlson)

The hiring screamed they want tuition payers and not a competitive football program. If they wanted a competitive football program the would have matched Flemings offer as OC to Lamar.

Padilla wanted Valpo football to be a piece of the University. Which next president may not, I think the way it’s currently constructed and was during Carlson is misleading to high school athletes and their families.

In retrospect, the performances in the last 6 games have put into perspective how truly putrid Virginia Lynchburg  was — and we even gave up 10 points to them.
