The video link on the website/social media is free outside the AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh local viewing area.

We have 20 seats on the courtside scorer's table/press row. The expansion of TV/video broadcasts requires 4 seats for all that equipment, plus 1 seat for the timeout coordinator. In addition, when we joined the MVC, we had to add replay equipment, which takes up another two spots, and it is also mandated that there is a spot for an event management staff member.

Long story short, there are a number of spots being taken up by personnel who wouldn't have taken up spots in the past. You add in the table crew (scoreboard/clock/official scorers), PA/marketing, sports info/stats, and seats for visiting team personnel, and you run out of available seats quickly. I can do a lot of things with numbers, but I can't make 26 people fit into 20 seats. It's why a few years ago, I started moving our writers up onto the track, and why last year, we moved both radio positions onto the track as well.

That photo was taken at our exhibition game, which we didn't have video for, hence no broadcasters/timeout coordinator/replay equipment. I made the decision to keep my seating setup like it would be for a normal regular season game, rather than move people downstairs for just one game and then move them right back to the track.

I've put together a brief story on our website regarding ESPN+ and the redesigned ESPN app, covering some of these questions. If there's any other questions regarding ESPN+, I can try to answer those as well.

I think what most people want to know, is ESPN going to force fans to pay for ESPN+ to watch the MVC Men's Basketball games in November-March?

Any word on how ESPN+ will affect how we view Valparaiso Men's Basketball games?

That is still up in the air - as the last question reflected, schedules of which games are on which service should be available in the months leading up to the start of the seasons going forward. My guess would be (and this is just my guess based on the info we've received/heard about ESPN+ so far, nothing official) that MVC men's basketball games will be split between ESPN3 and ESPN+, with a greater number on ESPN+.

Valpo Basketball / Basketball Broadcasts - 2017-18
November 01, 2017, 09:22:41 PM
Posted a brief story to the Athletics website regarding this earlier, but wanted to make sure everyone on here saw it as well regarding this year's plans with broadcasts:

- For home MBB games not on TV, Todd and Dave will be on ESPN3 only, and student broadcasters will be on the radio call (per the Valley's agreement with ESPN, the ESPN3 call is not allowed to be used on radio as well).
- For home MBB games on TV, Todd and Dave will be on radio; for road MBB games, Todd and either Dave or myself will be on radio.
- For home WBB games, either Todd or Dave will be on play-by-play on ESPN3, with either Renee' Turpa or Jamie (Gutowski) Stangel joining them as analysts. Student broadcasters will be on the radio call. For road games, student broadcasters will continue to be joined by Brandon on the radio.

With all the other production improvements, this should help enhance our MBB broadcasts on ESPN3, as Todd will no longer be handling radio production duties simultaneously. In addition, the WBB broadcasts will feature experienced talent as well.

Just want to clarify viewing options for Saturday's game. It will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and available on ESPN3, but will be blacked out on ESPN3 in the Chicago market (including Valparaiso) due to UIC's agreement with CSN Chicago.

Hope all who got a chance to tune in to the Periscope enjoyed it - obviously it's not the same as an ESPN3 broadcast, or even the webcasts McGill/Carleton had, but I feel like it worked well to at least give an option to watch. Even if you did have to deal with coaches/referees blocking the view every so often! And a3uge, I was charging for the entire second half.

Final blog post is up at ValpoAthletics.com/canada - hope you have enjoyed following along with the recaps, my blog posts and the interviews with the players each night!

No webcast from Ottawa, but I will be attempting something new tonight and using Periscope to stream the game. For those who haven't heard of it, Periscope allows you to live stream video from your phone. So it'll be a stream from my phone on press row - no actual commentary, but there is an option for chat on the app and if there are any questions, I'll do my best to answer.

The links for each quarter will be available when they go live, and posted to Twitter at Twitter.com/ValpoBasketball.

Just in case anybody has missed it, we have a blog going at ValpoAthletics.com/Canada. (Cheap plug!) I'm updating it each night and doing a video with a different player getting their thoughts on the day.

I'll touch on it more in tonight's blog post (which should be finished shortly), but the first game today, against the Montreal All-Stars, was against a team of guys who have played professionally. These guys were grown men, and it showed during the game. The second game today was against an AAU squad, which Max and Tevonn both came out of.

There should be more detailed coverage available of the rest of our games. We're hopeful there will be live webcasts, whether audio or video, of at least one or two of the three upcoming games against Universities, and we'll most likely have full box scores as well. Any links for any live coverage will be available by mid-day the day of game on the schedule online.

Just wanted to provide some clarification on Sunday's broadcast, given that there was some confusion with last Saturday's game.  Sunday's game, like the UIC game Saturday, will be an American Sports Network broadcast, available in the Chicago area on Comcast SportsNet Chicago Plus.  Many regional sports networks nationwide will be carrying it as well - a full list is attached as a PDF to the story I just posted on the Valpo Athletics website.  Also, the web streaming should be available to all as well.

The game is at our normal 7:05 p.m. CT tip time (as reflected on both our site and Columbia's site) - it appears there's just some confusion with the CIT on what time zone we're on.

QuotePlus our staff IDs don't get us in for free for this one.

Just wanted to correct this - since first round games are treated as regular season games from a host standpoint, faculty/staff IDs do get you in free on Tuesday.

Also, family packs are being offered online - 4 tickets for $24, with each additional ticket thereafter just $6 each.
