Just going to get the thread up. I'll let someone else add the stats. I'm just so hyped and excited from this weekend I can't think straight. This time in St Louis has been magical and our team outstanding with their play. Those who stayed away really missed out on an amazing time Well worth the trip. GO VALPO

Looks like everyone is gun shy to start a thread for this game. But what the heck, let's get this thing going. They beat us, we beat them. Now it's time to see who is going to advance. Going on less than three hours of sleep so I don't know if I'm still dreaming, but if I am don't wake me. Go Valpo!

Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen and Fans. Make sure you tray tables and seats are in the upright position. We are coming in for the season ending game with Three possible landing spots for the MVC tournament. A calm smooth touch down is not expected, so fasten your seat belts and hold your breaths. Where we land is determined by the following:

Landing spot #1
We win at Indiana State and we are a 4 or 5 seed. Doesn't matter which one because they face off each other on Friday at 2:35PM.

Landing spot #2
We lose and Missouri State loses also, we are a 6 seed and play Friday at 8:35PM

Landing spot #3
We lose and Missouri State wins at home. We are tied and they win the try breaker via NET standings ( unless the are some DNC Caucus people tabulating the final NET standing numbers ). We are the #7 seed and play Thursday 8:35PM

Bad news for us is, Javon is most likely out and Indiana State has only lost once at home this year and Missouri State has only lost 4 times at home.

But in the words of VUGrad1314 - I BELIEVE !!!  GO VALPO !!!

Big game for both teams trying to avoid playing Thursday night in St Louis. Both are playing some of their best the last few games. Let's Pack the ARC and make it Rock. Should be one heck of a game.

Valpo Basketball / Arch Madness 2020
January 13, 2020, 05:33:30 PM
Thought I'd start up something for the Conference tournament, ARCH MADNESS March 5th - 8th. Those who have attended in the past know how good it is. Those who have not, have a chance to experience it this year. I went the last two years and had a blast with all the fans. It is a first class operation and every game is very entertaining.

Less than 24hrs to game time, so I quess it's time to put up a game thread.
Charlotte is just 4-4 but is very tuff at home where they have beaten Wake Forest and Davidson. Away form home they're not so good, but we are playing them in their house. It will be very competitive game I believe.

NINER NUGGETS
Jordan Shepherd, who has scored in double-figures seven times this season, averages a team-leading 14.4 points per game. He ranks 11th in Conference USA in scoring. Shepherd leads the 49ers in assists at 3.9 assists per game which ranks him seventh in Conference USA.
Drew Edwards is second on the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game. He has scored in double-figures four times this season.
Jahmir Young, who has four double-figure scoring games, is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game. Young leads the team in rebounding at 5.4 boards per game. He ranks eighth in Conference USA in defensive rebounds at 5.1 per game. He is second on the team in assists at 3.25 per game.
Malik Martin, who has scored in double-figures in three of the last four games, is fourth on the team in scoring at 9.4 points per game.
Milos Supica, who scored a game-high 15 points while dishing out a career-high five assists in the 49ers win at UNCW, averages 7.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Amidou Bamba, who scored 11 points at UNCW, has eight block shots in Charlotte's last four games. He is second on the team in rebounding at 4.8 boards per game while averaging 6.6 points per game.
Cooper Robb has scored in double-figures in two of the last three games. He has recorded 10 steals in the 49ers last four games.
CHARLOTTE-VALPARAISO SERIES
Monday's game marks the seventh meeting between Charlotte and Valparaiso, who leads the all-time series, 4-2. In their last meeting, Charlotte defeated Valparaiso, 74-62, in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, December 22, 2006. De'Angelo Alexander led four 49ers double-figure scorers with 24 points.

As a side note, in their last game at UNCW that they won, former Valpo player Marten Linssen as a starter led all players with 17pts.

There will be radio broadcasts but live video seems to be limited to the C-USA network which you need a subscription or a 24hr pass for $6.95 to watch.

Since no one else seems to want to start the Game Thread. I guess I'll take a stab at it.

Central Michigan comes in with a 7-2 record with losses to Minnesota and DePaul. They beat our common opponent Trinity Christian 106-60.
This game appears to be another barn burner run and gun affair. These are the Stats so far for the Chippewas.

Team Stats
CMU is ranked the No. 1 scoring team in the nation averaging 95.1 points per game, while allowing 72.1 points per game, winning by an average margin of 23 points per game. San Francisco and Illinois are tied for second in the nation at 87.1 points per game.

CMU has scored at least 80 points in six of its eight games this season. The Chippewas have scored more than 100 in four of those games.

On the season, CMU is shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from the 3-point line. They are holding opponents to 43.1 percent shooting from the field and 32.7 percent from the 3-point line.

CMU is forcing 19.5 turnovers per game with 11.5 of those turnovers are coming off steals. They are committing 10.3 turnovers per game.

Also don't forget this is Homer Drew day. Be at the game early (12:30) for the celebration.

Since my first Thread went OK, thought I'd try one more.

This Saturday we travel to take on the Saint Louis Billikens. They were last years' A-10 tournament Champs. However they lost in the first round of the NCAA to Virginia  Tech. They lost two very good players to the pros, But still have a strong core nucleus made up of Juniors Jordan Goodwin 6'3" and Hasahn French 6'7". They also add Freshman quick guard Yuri Collins 6' and big man Jimmy Bell 6'10" 270lbs to the mix.

Saint Louis has played two games so far. An exhibition against Kentucky Wesleyan that they beat easily and Florida Gulf Coast they defeated (89-67). They play at an up tempo pace and use a smothering full court press resulting in numerous turn over / take aways. With Valpo adopting a run and gun style of play this year, this game should exciting and fast paced. Will be interesting to see who runs who into the ground first. My bet, as always, is on Valpo to come out on top. #GoValpo

Trying my first game thread.
Finally the season begins with Valpo hosting MAC team Toledo. This should be a good indicator of what to expect from our team this year. According to KenPom preseason rankings, Toledo will be the second highest ranked team (82) we play after Arkansas (44) unless we face Sorrolla's Cincinnati Bearcats (27) in the Paradise Jam ( fingers crossed ). The Rockets may be down to only 10 scholarship players as they lost big man Edu Aj 6'10" for the year and are waiting on medical clearance on highly regarded Freshman guard Acunzo Mattia 6'7". Who has yet to practice with the team. According to their coach if he gets clearance this Thursday he will play against Valpo.

Toledo has played two exhibition games and won both, Hillsdale 79-63 and nationally ranked D2 Finley 75-68.They are also picked to finish near the top in the MAC according to the conference's preseason poll.

Hopefully we have a good turnout, to support and get behind the team and start out the season on a positive note. Should be a really good game. Go Valpo
