2nd weekend in March start is the goal...pending of course.

Morehead State is going to score. They have scored over 30 points in every league game except vs. Drake. Beat Butler and jacksonville. Lost to Drake, Dayton and Davidson.

They can be run on and they prefer to move the ball by the pass. That doesn't mean they either don't give up passing yards or can't run the ball. They just play in high scoring games.

Opportunity for a win here.

Stetson is 5-1 after playing a pathetic OOC schedule. Lost by 3 to Marist, beat Butler by 3 and then beat up Dayton a bit. Haven't seen a weather report but hope for cold, wind and rain vs. a team from what's been a very warm Florida fall.

Drake brings their 1 loss in league team to Brown Field. Had blip vs. Stetson. Do we see a re-blip with Drake looking ahead to their league title matchup vs. San Diego the week after Valpo?

Drake is #1 in the league in defense and #4 in offense. Valpo is 8th in defense and 6th in offense

This one will be tough. Not Dayton's best team but they will be coming off a bye. A big achievement for the Crusaders if they can pull it off and win it but it will be a tall task.

Marist was soundly beaten by Columbia today. The Lions are probably the best team in the Ivy this season. Marist beat Georgetown which beat Campbell at Barker Lane. That's kind of scary. Marist beat Stetson by 3 TDs although Stetson was in the game for most of 3 quarters. I'm not a big believer in the "well we hung with them for so many quarters" angle. They beat Stetson by 3 TDs in my view.

I'd guess a closer game than the recent few games vs. Marist and, maybe with a couple of significant bounces Valpo's way, a victory for the Crusaders.

Heavy load on Jimmy S's thigh. If it doesn't recover, Valpo will need to win in another fashion.

On a non Marist note: Dayton was looking like a potential victim until today when they beat Drake. Morehead State? Butler? May come down to those two for a win or two....maybe.

Figured I'd put this as a placeholder for in season news that was not specific game related. At this point I'm confident that the game roster is pretty much set in stone, the scout team has been given their charges and the team is ready to go full bore into the season.
