We need to get Vermont on the schedule next year... on the road.   94 miles to the home town of Mr. Walker north of the border.

Hey don't forget Mr. Joseph too.

The slow wheels of justice. If this is the case, that we are waiting on the NCAA, it would be a travesty if they make their ruling at the end of March and it's not a full suspension. That would be unfair to the player if the punishment is deemed to be less than the time missed. There is no next year to serve it. However the best way not to have this situation, is not to get into it (if guilty). To future players , be smart, if you do something wrong, more than likely you're gonna get caught. Don't do it!

A few years ago there were Videos being made by Audio Visual students that seemed to get the students excited about the sports programs. I remember seeing Bobby C. doing Christmas Carols, Rowdy in gangum style parody, Harlem Shake and other skits that got people going and enthused about sports and the campus. Somewhere that creativity and excitement left. It seems the void created has been filled with indifference and a lack of passion. The school needs someone with some artistic talent to bring back that energetic feeling.

It's pathetic to have less than forty students at a home game. I counted thirty- eight at the start of the game and a third of them were sitting for the traditional stand for the first bucket. It appears VU only has two Dozen die hard fans that really get into the game. I don't remember this much apathy last year and all the excuses because it's a Sunday, it's a school night, test tomorrow, too cold out, watch on TV or there's something else goin on just doesn't cut it. If the team wasn't playing well or sucked I might see it. The student turn out for a team this good is an embarrassment to the School. Have some School pride!

Quote from: VUSL98 on January 16, 2017, 08:48:04 PMOnly 24 combined fouls in the game. Had more than that in the first half against Oakland.
This was refreshing.  I felt like I was watching a game circa 2011 (before they made defense illegal). There was a lot of contact, but most of it was in the flow of the game.  Bodies are going to bounce off each other on drives to the basket, as long as arms are straight up, let it go.  The game is a lot more tolerable when the whistle isn't going off every time down the floor.

Per Paul Oren one of the refs is an NFL ref. So I guess if a player wasn't tackled and taken to the ground it was no foul. lol

Quote from: M on January 16, 2017, 10:04:14 PMIDK how to do that. Just look up PO and find that tweet. Sorry 😕 I do find it very hard to believe that Jubril doesn't know what a "university matter" means in his case.

The tweet from PO has disappeared. I saw where Jubril tweeted "me neither" but nothing from Peters. Then it just went away.

I don't see Jubril either. Could be good or bad. If he stayed behind to face the Honor council it's good because it means there is an end in sight. Which still could be good or bad. Of course I know nothing. It's just my mind spinning.

Valpo was looking at Taylor Bruninga from Illini Bluffs. It doesn't hurt that this guy was asked to pose with him during winter break.

Quote from: FWalum on January 09, 2017, 11:33:54 AMAlec is missing the boat... he should have a promotion deal with whatever "sports" drink he is always drinking at the press conferences!
You notice, he never has the label facing the camera to show what it is? It looks like he goes between two different ones. Maybe he's holding out for the best deal from each company to show and promote who they are. LOL.

Burton and Evelyn were on the bench during games until the semester break and then after that I haven't seen them.

Quote from: RS on December 31, 2016, 05:08:42 PMJubril was probably at the game but I don't think he traveled with the team. Did not see him with the team on the bench and I would think because he is suspended from the team is not allowed to travel to away games
Jubril was at the game. He sat at the far end of the bench, a little to the side and was up with the team during time outs.

When Dixon comes back they will be a pretty good team. Last year I thought they had talent but did not play well together. Now it looks like they are playing more as a team and not as undisciplined individuals

Looks like we'll be really short-handed for Chicago State without Jubril and Jay. If the situation with Jubril requires facing the honor council, ( unless he has already ) it's going to be awhile before that can happen, since the Campus is closed down until Jan 11th. So that means at least four more games missed before a hearing could be held and then maybe a couple more games before a decision is made. All speculation on my part and somewhat pessimistic. I hope I'm wrong and he's serving out his "Sentence" now and will return soon because we need him. I know we should respect an individual's privacy, but not hearing any explanation from the coaching staff just leads to frustration for the fans.

I thought the reffing was sub-par. Called a couple of flops and miss some obvious ones. I don't think Peters was fouled on the last play at the three point line but was hacked at the basket the time before and no call. So in the end I guess things evened out.

Quote from: walldozer on November 28, 2016, 01:25:29 PMSorry to hijack the thread, but are the seats in section F right behind the team and near where the Crusaderettes and cheerleaders are?
Section F are chairbacks, next to the student section on the other side of the court from the visitors bench and somewhat behind and to the side of the basket.

Despite being a scoring machine, he doesn't have any D-1 offers yet. Not sure what to make of that, except to say that if our goal is to maintain our current status as a Top-50 program, it will take an ongoing crop of high quality mid major-level players and players with high major skills (i.e., AP, SH) to make it happen. If Mantis fits that profile, Im sure the coaching staff will be all over him. If not, there has to be a good reason.
I totally agree with you. We should seek out the best talent available no matter where they come from, but I'd hate to see us miss out on local talent that fits our requirements. Just looking at his stats and video I was wondering if he's flying under the radar or the competition makes him look better than he is. I'm no scout, there are a lot more qualified people than me, but I was just curious about his status.

Does anyone know if Valpo is interested in Lowell's Nick Mantis? I hear he was at a recent game/visit and from video I've seen he looks good. Apparently he has no offers yet. Wondering if Valpo is holding out to see what happens with Sasha, before throwing out any more offers. Would be nice to add another quality player from NWI ( either one ). Also what is up with Middleton, I don't think I've seen him at any games, I know he got suspended but is he gone for good or expected to be here next year. Thinking if it opens up another spot for 2017.

Quote from: oklahomamick on November 23, 2016, 06:30:44 AMWe usually have IPFW on the schedule.  This years schedule is a fine one.  However if IPFW and Oakland can get P5 teams to come to their gym, we too should be able to find a way. We got Bama and buy this year as a result of our previous success.  An invite at the big table that other HL schools couldn't get.
Most people say size doesn't matter but in Valpo's case the size of the ARC is too small compared to the record.
Fort Wayne was sold out with over 10,000. I think we need to have at least another 1500 or so to get consideration from Major Schools in the area If they would agree to come here to play a possible embarrassing lost to a Mid-Major

It seems that the talk is Dillon is not coming back to the line-up until at least the Maui trip Which I think gives VU a slim shot if they can get hot from 3 point land. However that means they would have to turn their scoring around a lot from what they have been doing so far. That I think is going to be pretty difficult  playing and shooting from those Trees on the court.
