It's called the Gulf Coast Showcase at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL. There are eight men's teams playing from Nov.25-27 and eight women's teams playing from Nov.29-Dec. 1. The eight men's teams are Louisiana Tech, San Diego, St Bonnaventure, Southern Illinois-C, Stetson, UIC, NC-Greensboro and Wagner. The first day is over but they play today and tomorrow. This is the G. C. Showcase's first year.

The CSU game was such a surprise that ESPN cut away from Maui to show the end of this game.

Since this is the Showcase's first year I wouldn't be surprised to see Valpo end up in this tournament in a few years. Keep your chin up.

Looks like UIC could have used more fans at the Gulf Coast Showcase. Even the San Diego fans didn't show up. I wonder why. Couldn't the Terero fans have used a nice trip to a warm...................oh, never mind.   ::)

look dude, i'd have gone if they'd have publicized it.

seriously, y'all come down now when we play there.

or play FGCU.

I was in a restaurant in Kansas City tonight and on the TV in the bar was the Maui Classic (Syracuse v. Cal)  and I thought that Valpo needs the exposure these gigs provide. UWGB is in Alaska, UIC in Florida. Next year we should try to get an invite to a holiday tournament.  The last two years of individual games just doesn't have the pizazz, plus some of those games are during break and few students hang around -- might as well travel.  Love to see VU in Hawaii next year.

chef

In the last 20 years, Valpo has played in 4 Hawaii tournaments, 2 in Las Vegas, The USVI, South Padre, and the Great Alaskan Shoot-out. Awfully impressive for a mid-major. A couple more major tournaments are in the works in the next few years.

Balentine only scores 14 against Indiana in what turned out to be a pummeling by the Hoosiers. Indiana only allowed the Purple Aces to shoot 29.1% while Evansville averaged 52.7% in their other 5 games. Balentine was 0-5 from three and 5 for 12 from two. Simmons was 1 for 5 from three and missed 2 twos. And most importantly the fouls were fairly even with E-Ville 25, IU 22.

In tonight's game at Valpo, the fouls were UCF 22, VU 21.

Don't be surprised to see Jay walking the streets of Naples.

Eh, knowing him, he'll be hanging out about eight feet behind the line.

Probably get hit by an old man on a moped, too.

Just so you know--that Waldorf is hardly worthy of the name.  I recommend either of the Ritz Carltons much more highly.  Don't be too envious of them.

Hard to believe Murray State is 0-fer... and this Mercer team is scary-good!   Like the top 6 guys are seniors.  They did lose by 9 to Ohio... but we should have.

Wow, Jay Harris and Wagner got smoked by a bad UIC team!  Bad game by him as well:

I looked at the box score which reported Jay had 1 point in 20 minutes.  Barlow on the other hand went off for 38.  Wagner is going to have a long season.

Illinois squeaks out a two point over IPFW? Illinois must be in some real interesting shape if they barely beat the Mastadons.
