Per letter sent this week by Chair of Search Committee, John Draheim:

"The Search Committee met recently on January 7th.  During that Search Committee meeting candidates were identified.... These candidates have been invited to meet with the Search Committee for interviews and Committee members are currently interviewing their references.

Following the completion of these interviews, the Search Committee will select finalists who will be asked to participate in more extensive on-campus interviews with a broad range of Valpo constituents.  These interviews are currently expected to occur in late February."

Next update at conclusion of interviews in February.

No names have surfaced that I have heard yet.  The Board meets this coming weekend for its general January meetings.

My guess is the only names we will hear are the ones invited to campus unless someone knows someone who was interviewed or did the interviewing.

Ok. I heard a former engineering professor that played football at VU in the 80's is in talks. That would be nice.

Valparaiso is a private university, hence it is highly unlikely that the names of any finalists will be known. The university will go through the process and at some point will announce the new President.

That said, there is only one person who fits the description offered by tiny707....and he would be a very good choice for the university.

The only finalists names we will officially be told about will probably be the ones invited to Campus which will include interview with faculty, staff, students, and probably Alumni as well.

I have seen whispers of a former football alum on twitter but nothing from any of my campus sources but I also haven't asked them.

If it is who I think you are referring to it would be fantastic.

OK kids....I know but I'm not telling....ha, ha, ha...and you will just have to find out.  What is this all about ?    Cross my heart I promise I won't tell if you tell me.  ??? ;D

Yeah I don't see the problem with posting a rumor as long as you note that its a rumor. There's no legal situation here. Otherwise you're just one of those people who brags about being "in the know" on a message board.

I don't know the name. I've only seen others post that they've heard of a former "football guy" being interviewed so that's as far as my knowledge goes.

However, just based on the info dropped on this page i'm thinking they mean Kraig

Plot Twist: He promises to upgrade athletic facilities and we end up with a 25,000 seat Brown Field.

Understood so I note this is a rumor. Have not spoken directly to said candidate. Was just curious if anyone has heard the same thing. It is a slam dunk in my humble opinion.

If that is the case then for sure he will not get the job.
