In their last game, the Appleton North Lightning lost 90-66 to the Kimberly Papermakers. Nelson had 35 of his team's 66 points

Two thoughts:
1. That is a lot of points for a 36 minute high school game (with no shot clock).
2. Papermakers!?!?!?

And to think, we could have been the Valparaiso University Popcornmakers!

Darn, another missed opportunity. 😉

And, consider this:
Max was 13-23 FG (57%)
7-15 3FG (47%)

7 made 3's in a HS game for the 2nd time in 14 games. He was 7-12 from 3 in the other game for a combined 14-27 3FG 52%.

I sincerely hope that shot translates! But he looks like a really promising recruit!

New offer made today to 6-0 PG. A juco from Hillsborough CC in Florida. If still offering schollies wonder if this indicates a current player is leaving? My guess is yes.

Let's be realistic. We all thought Cam Paleese (sp?) would be hard to keep off the floor too. Maximus might red shirt too.

Cam well still be a star with another year under the weights. But Max is 6'8" with a deadly 3 point shot.  Get real.

Can't negate the impact of Covid on redshirts. Redshirt used to mean not good enough, now means they are saving him.

I'm not really sure Valpo should be saving anyone at this point.

Can't blame the kid for not wanting to waste a year of eligibility for what may have been marginal pt.

NotBryceDrew

I heard from direct source earlier this year that Cam's game didn't really translate to D1 at all him sitting was purely ability. A lot can change in the first year or two of college so I'm optimistic that with the right development he could be a contributor in the future.

Decommitted from Elon a couple of days ago after the coach left to assist at Duke.  Already has a hand full of offers including  3 MVC and  3 MAC.

Didn't we also offer his teammate Japhet Medor?

There was at least interest. He ended up at Texas San Antonio

I will never have any expectations for a Lottich led team after last year, but I do like what we added compared to what we lost. We needed size and athleticism down low. Somebody that can rebound and play interior defense. We got that. Palm averaged 9-9 in 14 minutes per game as a freshman. Obviously will be a step up against D1 comp, but he has what he needs physically to succeed at the D1 level. 6-10, 7-1 wingspan, 3.16 3 quarter court speed, can put down 360 dunks with that size.

I am also excited for Edwards at the point. Averaged 17/8/6 last year on 40% 3 point shooting. He creates offense. Quinton green will probably play the 3 and 4, and at 6'7 we'll be pretty big.

Everyone we added shot at least 38% from three last year too.

Looks like Martinelli committed to Northwestern on 4/23. Not bad to be in the mix for a player of his caliber, yet hard to compete with a Big10 offer.

Totally agree.  We lost a seasoned point guard in Trevor and it would seem that Edwards will fill that need, giving the sophomores more time to grow into the position.  This was a major issue last year once Trevor went down.  As for losing Sheldon, we gain a bigger version in Green. The other two transfers out were unknowns.  Getting Palm gives a shot blocker and much needed depth up front. Who knows how it will turn out but teams like Northern Iowa, Murray State and Illinois State will have much bigger holes to fill.
