Valpo Basketball / Re: Where is Peters next season?
April 08, 2016, 12:59:32 PM
As it has been discussed on other threads, the higher ups at Valpo, some of the VP's, board of trustees etc don't see athletics as a viable means to promote the academic culture that they want Valpo to be perceived as having(which the academics are great but you can have both, my sister currently goes to Valpo and I'm very glad I'm an alum) Michael Joseph is one of the exceptions, at last years Green Bay title game I chatted with him (over a game of one on one) about the school, and about getting a new pool( which is a crock of a story between the city and VU, if you have ever seen the pool at Valpo its a  :censored: hole, I coach at the DIII level and have yet to see anything worse, but I get it, it wont bring in money, no one watches swim meets etc) and the athletic program. He genuinely cares so I believe the importance of athletics at Valpo is growing, and Heckler also helps. Over the next decade as older employees begin to retire I believe we will begin to see the dynamics shift. Academics are obviously the most important but athletics can and should promote the school in a positive way. As for Peters, baring an NBA draft he'll be back.

119 as well, row 10,with a buddy who graduated with me in 2012... anyone have pregame plans? not paying $60 for the alumni dinner
#353
mine in 119,10th row, were $55 each plus fees so $125 total...I'll probably end up in the BYU section... I'll have to yell Jimmer each time we make a 3

tickets purchased, section 119 tenth row...figure I should go to NYC and MSG at least once and this is the perfect excuse!!
#355
Anyone watch the halftime show of the Creighton @ BYU game? Valpo getting a lot praise for their defensive effort!! Compulsively bought tickets  for MSG, looks like a 6 hr train ride down to NYC from VT!

TSU is very athletic, and Mike Davis does a solid job it seems so I'll give them some credit...I think the line may be Valpo by only 1 or 2, we need all the fans we can get and like you said, agibson, at worst a B+ game...and I would say we had B performance tonight, maybe B+ when we figured out they could play...wish I was close enough to go to the ARC but alas a 14hr drive is too far  :'(

Yes hopefully, was hoping to see him towards the end tonight...Also turns out I didn't graduate lol 42hrs 33 minutes...but I did...
#358
Check that math haha 41 hrs 39 minutes

This will be a very tough game, curious too see what the line will open at. Bacon and Beasley will be tough to stop but with our team defense we can make it happen. Looking forward to this one, I liked the energy towards the end of the game tonight and if we bring that passion we win our 28th

24-6; 16-2 Horizon; RPI: 52; SOS: 164; Non-conf. SOS: 53; KenPom: 36

Valpo entered this season as an overwhelming favorite in the Horizon League, which hampered Bryce Drew's ability to build his Crusaders a truly at-large worthy schedule. Therefore, Valparaiso enters this final weekend with a 1-1 mark against the Top 50 (a win at Oregon State and a six-point loss at Oregon two nights earlier) and a 3-1 record over teams sitting between 51st and 100th. The Crusaders wins in that group came over a conference tourney champ (Iona) and a pair of conference regular season champs (IPFW and Belmont, which split a home-and-home with Valpo).

Like Monmouth, Valparaiso did well away from home, going 12-4 in true road games. However, their lone neutral-court game, the Horizon semifinal loss to Green Bay, is the loss that has them in this very spot.

This profile resembles Iona's 2012 effort that got the Gaels into the First Four after they had trouble getting games. Perhaps history will repeat itself four years later.

We have to be optimistic because why not?

Here is why Valpo deserves an at large bid. No bad losses. Worst loss is to Ball State who turned out to a bit better than even the MAC expected.  Valpo played very well in the OOC with wins at Rhode Island, and Oregon State. Monmouth lost to 3 teams above 200 RPI. Wichita St. had an injury much like Valpo and even though they didn't have any bad losses they are only 4-7 against top 100 RPI teams where Valpo is 3-2. The shockers SOS is better than Valpo's and Valpo's is better than Monmouth's. I don't know the inner workings of scheduling but from what I hear no one would schedule Valpo because there was a lot hype surrounding the program. I believe we did just enough to get in. Optimistic prediction:  Valpo and Wichita St. in, Monmouth out.  Am I right? Not likely, but definitely possible!

Vegas has us at 15 pt favorites, I hope we win by 18+ after that disheartening loss.

Eamonn Brennan on the  latest bracketology update "We hate to do it, but Valparaiso's home loss to Wright State on Saturday earns it the boot from this space and probably from serious at-large consideration moving forward. The Crusaders are a good team, and good teams sometimes lose games at home. See Maryland on Saturday night. But the Crusaders' resume is not so good that it can withstand a damaging L like that, especially not on their home floor."

Did you happen to see the first half of the Pitt vs Gonzaga game that got canceled(It was in Japan,to much moisture on the floor http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/11/13/pitt-vs-gonzaga-slippery-court-conditions-canceled-early). Pitt is very athletic, they were up on the Zags at halftime.I would be worried about them if somehow that bracket prediction is correct. It would be awesome to be in a 10 vs 7 game though!

Valpo Basketball / Game #13 Belmont Round 2
December 26, 2015, 12:26:36 PM
Hopefully we can carry over the defensive performance from Mo St. Belmont has lost their last two games, by 2 to Cleveland St, and by 21 to Middle Tenn. The Bruins will be hungry, but I know Bryce will have them ready. Come out with some effort and avoid the Holiday Hangover. Go Po'!

such a joke...ball st will finish middle of the mac at best...good bye 8,9, or 10 seed...maybe an 11 if we win out...12, 13 or 14 if not...tevonn didn't need to be rested unless he tweaked it in practice..that comes down on rod moore who hmmmmmmmm...darien needs to sit bench(although he did play decent d) ...lexus needs to play...hopefully skara will get back to early season form...you just cannot have a loss like this...so incredibly lazy...
