Langston Stallings is a great athlete and even more eloquent writer.  Apparently the high school he goes to was band from IHSAA post season due to infractions by the staff while he attended the school.

Below is his heart felt letter presented on behalf of his fellow athletes...

Heck of a future for this young man if he keeps at it.  Apparently his father is the Dean of Students for the middle school at Bowman and active on the school board in Gary as well.  Saw a radio interview with Langston and his father, also linked below.

Really looking forward to Langston's impact at VU, on and off the court/field.

Understand why he was class valedictorian. If I was on the IHSAA board, I 'd certainly have second thoughts on the blanket decision.  And just like the NCAA, the schools and atletes suffer for what irresponsible adults do and then leave.  I bet by his senior season at Valpo he will be so respected he will be a team captain.

Any news on this front? Have we been connected to any prospects or grad transfers?

Watch Jordan Brown's recruitment. If he chooses Arizona it may be the last push Akot needs to transfer. Then, if his friendship with Sackey is as strong as some say, perhaps we could be in play for him.

I realize these are highlights but his game looks very fluid Quick release from outside. Looks like a really solid scorer. I'm sold and it looks like we have a great shot at getting him given his current list of offers.

I'm 50-50 based on severely limited game tape.  Like his size and shooting looks solid.  But he appears too slow (defense?), limited athletically (no drives) and has zero ability to play a more traditional PF (back to basket).  I recognize he's listed as a SF but he needs versatility at the next level.

Seems like a poor mans Fazekas.  Though I'm not saying Fazekas is anything but a very strong addition.  He's as good as we have had transfer to VU (on the surface).

Highlights don't make me jump out of my seat with excitement, but I don't think every scholarship player needs to be that way at our level. He could be a decent piece...we'll see.

valpo84

Like his jump shot, is lanky, reminds a bit of a cross between Shaun Huff and Shane Hammink when he bulks up a bit. Shaun was pretty effective although not particularly quick.

This guy is no where near as athletic as Shane, but they're similar in terms of height. His shooting stroke looks a lot more fluid then Shane's. We can't really tell how good his handles are from highlights, which is quite important in evaluating a player. But there appears to be some nice ability here.

A guy he actually reminds me a little bit of is a lefty version of KJ Santos (formerly UIC) at Mizzou, but not quite the same hops.

That alone should have you hankering for some Hankton (every pun imaginable is intended)

Remember Shakur Daniel, a Canadian guard we were showing interest in and may have even offered at one time? He just committed to Soutbern Miss. I would imagine that our interest cooled significantly after Freeman-Liberty and Sackey committed.

In case anyone's wondering how this turned out, Brown picked Nevada.

I think with this latest piece of news with Stull choosing not to come to Valpo it might mean we leave a scholarship open going into next season.

It wasn't hard to see this coming. Big 10 Ex coach on staff. Not surprised. I'm good. On to Hartfield Nze Gordon Faulds and other options.

Apparently we were the runner up.

Valpo consider taking a chance with Pettway as a PF? He was a transfer committed to Nevada, but he has re-opened his recruitment. Averaged 10 pts. and 6 rebs. as a sophomore, and he already has sat out a year, so he is eligible to play.

Is that how it works with a double transfer like this? 100% sure he won't have to sit again? Watch Loyola be all over him to try to get insider intel for their big matchup with the Wolfpack.

Heck if that's how it works I'd transfer to an idealic mountain college (scenery) or say Hawaii.  Get free year in paradise, re-energize and then go to my well thought out and vetted real option that best fits me!!!

The recruiting season is until the semester starts in late August. When did we get Linsson - late July?  When did we get Barton - late August?

VU2014

Linssen committed in April and Joe committed in Late-August.

I still think we're going to hear Hartfield commit here pretty soon as a red-shirt, but I don't think they want to bunch up the scholarships too much more. I think they want to keep 1 available additional for the 2019 class and that's why Stull was a ideal, because was a impact grad-transfer that wouldn't have tied up a future scholarship. Maybe their in on another grad-transfer we don't know about but I know they recruited Stull pretty hard from the moment he opened up his recruitment.

VUGrad1314

Who are some of the available grad transfers?
