Great article about a new Track and Cross Country recruit coming in the fall semester!  Parrell finds "right balance at Valparaiso (http://www.livingstondaily.com/story/sports/2016/07/03/brightons-parrell-finds-right-balance-valparaiso/86654172/)

His times for 1600 and 3200 meters:

4:41 for 1600m converts to 4:21.75 for 1500m and 4:42.63 for 1 mile
10:04 for 3200m converts to 9:22.63 for 3000m and 10:07.5 for 2 miles. This is 5:03.75 mile pace.

I liked seeing the following in the article (actually liked seeing any article that indicates that the T&F program is going after kids):
He's certainly not upset with the outcome of getting to complete his studies while racing for a team with an average grade-point average in the top 10 percent of all D-I programs.

"I found that out on my visit," said Parrell, who will major in finance and minor in spanish while at Valparaiso. "That really got my attention. That let me know that the guys are really focused on their schoolwork."

Guess this is as good a spot as any to post this.  It is an article from the latest VU Alumni Newsletter about Tom Pukstys, our javelin coach. Interesting factoid:  he coached Jubril when Jubril was in middle school.  He also he has quite a throwing resume is kind of an understatement.
