Title: Youngstown State in National Championship January 7th
Post by: VULB#62 on January 06, 2017, 02:04:59 PM
We sometimes bash the YSU MBB program, but this is the basket where where they place their eggs.  Congratulations YSU on a great season and making it to the FCS Championship in Frisco, TX. They'll represent the MVFC and play James Madison from the CAA.

I was going to go--went last year--but, the weather looks pretty rough.  Right now (5:48pm) it is 25 degrees.  Down to 16 tonight and then 39 for a high tomorrow.  A great atmosphere at the game with a jet fly over and everything.  Of course part of the atmosphere last year was the 15,000 fans from North Dakota State (out of 20,000 seats). For what it is worth I would take James Madison in the game.  They beat NDSU at their place.  NDSU beat Iowa early in the year.  I'll be watching!

Wow, I can't believe that NDSU finally lost in the playoffs.  Their trip down to TX was a yearly ritual.  We would always notice a bunch of NDSU gear in DFW when this time comes each year.  Congrats to YSU on concentrating on T&F/CC and Football ;).

Younstown's QB is a graduate of a neighboring high school and a really good guy.  Here's a link to an article about him http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2017/01/youngstown_state_football_play_1.html

Hunter Wells won the Elite 90 award in the FCS.

I think it will be a very competitive game as James Madison has been really hot.

BTW, I heard the Rose Bowl was a pretty good game  ;)

Surprised that no one mentioned that YSU lost this game 28-14 http://www.ncaa.com/video/football/2017-01-07/fcs-championship-youngstown-state-james-madison (http://www.ncaa.com/video/football/2017-01-07/fcs-championship-youngstown-state-james-madison)
