The Mountain West – Missouri Valley Challenge is an in-season NCAA college basketball series, matching up teams from the Mountain West Conference (MW) and the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). The series began in November 2009 and featured all of the MW teams against most of the MVC teams.[1][2]
The first challenge was held in 2009. The conferences agreed to a four-year deal, extending the challenge through 2012.[3] The challenge was not extended beyond its original term and ended after 2012.[4] However, it was announced on April 2, 2015 that the conferences would renew the series in 2015.[5] Since the Mountain West now has 11 members to the MVC's 10, all Missouri Valley members are competing in the renewed series, with one MW team sitting out.
The MW–MVC Challenge occurs from late November through December. The games are hosted by each of the schools. The first two series had nine games played each year, leaving one team from the 10-team MVC without an opponent. In 2011, only eight games were played, leaving two MVC teams without an opponent. With changes to the conference schools, each Challenge since the renewal of the series in 2015 has featured 10 games.
The MW leads the series with three wins, one loss, and two ties. New Mexico and Wichita State have the best records at 5–1 each. However, Wichita State will not participate in any further Challenges since the school joined the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2017.[6]

That Northern Iowa team looks REALLY good. They beat a 6-0 UNLV team that has a McDonald's All American at Center as well as the National JC Player of the Year on their team. We will have our hands full with UNI's center who is really good and went toe to toe with UNLV's center.
Are you talking about UNLV's Brandon McCoy? Hes actually from Chicago, I wonder if Loyola recruited him.
All wins for the homes teams so far?

Both centers were impressive, to be sure. The weird play at the end of regulation involved UNI's center driving towards the hoop, on the fast break, and passing the ball towards the corner and out of bounds. Locomotive style. He knocked down his defender (who may have been moving), but it seemed like it was after the pass. Still, the block was called, free throws made, and the game went to OT.
They won OT 16 to 7 (but it felt like 13 to 2, before garbage time).
Should be a fun couple of games with them.

How does a 5-star offered by Kansas, Michigan State, Arizona and Oregon end up at UNLV?
Grades?

I'm guessing by airplane.
Academics are not a problem with athletes at UNLV.
This is looking like a tie. SIU should be able to handle San Jose State, but I️ don't see the Valley pulling an upset at Wyoming or San Diego state.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Bradley or Drake. Both have their share of solid wins. They'll be in for tough games but I think the Valley can probably eke out a 6-4 decision.

I just can't cheer for a team that is coached by "let him poop in his pants" Wardle.
Interestingly enough after the final game--Bradley loss--Sagarin has The Mountain West conference now at #8 and The Valley at #9 out of 33. (The Horizon is now #25)

They don't have the depth and couldn't shut down Boise's big scorer. Consistency will be a problem for Loyola.

Actually some pretty balanced scoring for Boise against the Ramblers. Jessup-20 (huge scorer for Broncos), Hobbs 14, Haney 13, L Williams (smooveLex) 12, Sengfelder 10, five other single digit scorers.

Don't worry. Elgin and others are confident that the challenge will return in two years after a one year hiatus.
