From today's College of Engineering newsletter:
-This year, the college has set all-time records for percent of women students (28.2%), students from underrepresented populations (12.3%), Christ College students (17.6%), and varsity athletes (16.9%).
-Of the three new tenure track positions, two have been filled by women who recently completed their PhDs. One is a woman of color.
The percentage of students who are women and are from underrepresented populations is a great accomplishment...and is the result of hard work and continued emphasis by many good people in the College of Engineering. Unfortunately, there are still some people who have outdated and immoral stereotypes of women and minorities – thus Valpo is very fortunate to have great people who see the many benefits from increased representation in professional programs.
Great news indeed!
This is very good news and we absolutely need to continue progressing on celebrating diversity.
