Beating up on +200`s RPI teams pre conference IMO does not get you ready to play at another level.

We would need to be 15 or 20-1, before gaining any national recognition.  We don't have any solid wins

Nor will we even if they run the table, as per my earlier post on strength of schedule.

Don't quite get that logic. Soccer and football are outdoor sports. And conversely, why have heat for basketball? It would make Valpo tougher to beat when other teams are used to playing in heated facilities using your logic. The ARC is definitely not a selling point when it comes to recruitment. A very outdated facility.

All the more reason to get AC then? Time to join the other 99% of D1 schools.

Home opener tonight with IUPUI and wouldn't be surprised to see the match go five. Very unsettled lineup with the three previous matches. Hope to see a good crowd tonight.

2-1 to start the season. Random thoughts: Good to see everyone played. Surprising to see a couple of freshman starting in a few of the matches. Freshman from Illinois will have a medical redshirt.

Home opener this Wednesday.

Any school will take your money if you qualify regardless.

General VU Discussion / Changing School Colors
August 18, 2014, 07:35:12 AM
There has been talk about changing the School's colors, mainly changing out the brown with black or green and leaving the gold. I'm seeing small changes with some school uniforms not going with the traditional colors. Yes, the current rage is camo and pink for certain occasions, but some certainly don't look like the original colors. There has been some blowback from alumni but times are changing. Look at some current schools, mainly football that have really whacked out uni's. Today's youth, like it or not, look at fashion when picking out which schools to play for sometimes. Thoughts?

Valpo's RPI in 2013 was 103, right above Wake Forest and right below Fresno St.

Actually there is an RPI ranking as well as the Pablo ranking for volleyball. It ranks all 300+ teams.

The schedule is milquetoast at best. Twenty wins should be a given with coaching and talent.

REALLY! Well let's all thank God that there are no wrestling or swim teams to also cast impure thoughts into impressionable minds.

A 2015 commit from Michigan an a 2016 from California. Let's hope that we can keep them under wraps.

Very unusual that a first teamer all state, especially from Indiana, had waited so long to commit. You would have thought that she would be snatched up long before now. Maybe the height thing, or lack thereof, scared them away? Anywho, their loss is Valpo's gain.

Obviously the program is not going in the right direction. Even if the program is not a high priority it seems it would be addressed to be reevaluated. To continue without change for a D1 would be lacking for a one-time successful school of this sport.

The volleyball team traveled to the Dunes to take on The Fighting Irish in spring ball and came away with a 3-2 win.

It seems that one of the girls has decomitted to focus on academics I'm guessing that Valparaiso can't offer and will not be playing anywhere. Being that usually most all schools have their commits for the upcoming year wrapped up wondering if they will bank the scholly for next year?

Valpo Football / Re: New Football Head Coach announced

I believe that four wins would be a reasonable start. Anything above that is icing on the cake.

Now the next big question is who is going to run the defense and special teams? Those IMO were the most glaring shortcomings.

Well, here we go again, wellllllllll maybe. Iowa's coach Dingman is out. Iowa reached out and offered Carin the job last time. That resulted in a contract extention for her due to run out in two more years. With the continued success of Valpo's program I'm wondering if Iowa will go back to the well one more time?
