Anything new on Peters, Rossi, and the kids from ND and X?  It's my understanding that Peters wants to commit early and the others are near a decision.

I believe Alec Peters is a strong shooting big man, not a shooting Guard.   When we met Alec and his Dad during a game last season his Dad told me Alec"s strong point was that he is a very good 3-point shooter, especially for an inside guy.

KVW or not, we still should have won this game...once again, Buggs is still a disappointment, when you are totally not an offensive threat to score, a lot of effort is wasted and he is the epitome of that...now let's win the conference!      GO VALPO!

Once again another great defensive adjustment at half-time..Very impressive how the guys respond to a first year coach and staff..they have really played well and hard, especially on the defensive end during the second halves of the last 2 games...Bryce should be a shoo-in for Coach of the Year as he has done an outstanding job for a first year coach (good training helps/lol)

Both the men's and women's team have a point guard that wont and cant shoot!!

Great win in a tough venue...the guys were not going to be beaten up by the Panthers... disappointed in Edwards' and Matt's T's but love their enthusiam and hustle...this win says alot for Bryce and how his team responds to difficult situations, especially being down so far in the first half...says alot for a first year coach and young team... seems like Buggs is becoming less and less of as factor as the season progresses, quite a disappointment...altho he is young and needs improvement I like Harris at the point AND HE CAN SCORE AND ISN'T AFRAID TO SHOOT!!!!          GO VALPO!!!!

To put it in simple words...after reading post after post regarding the women's  program, it sure looks like the probelm is Coach Freeman and his staff...able to recruit good players but then doesn't know how to mold them into a cohesive team, short handed or whatever, his program doesn't seem to be effective.  After all, doesn't the head coach hire his assistants?  "C'mon man" is the proper term...let's get real folks.

We sat next to Alec Peters and his Dad, Jeff at the Oakland game.  Quality people, seemed very interested in Valpo, liked the coaching staff and the fact that they are young and relate to young players, mentioned that the staff seems to like being at Valpo and appears that the staff would be there for at least the near future so Alec could count on them all being on the staff while he attends ,  is impressed by our academics, would like to be close to home so family could watch him play as often as possible as their family is very close knit ... Dad said Green Bay also is interested...Jeff asked about the bigger rivalry games coming up at home and figured Butler would be among  them...I said you bet they are.  I mentioned that it was a Friday night game and would be a sellout for sure and a great Valpo home game experience.   I also mentioned the Cleveland State game on a Sunday afternoon and gave him the dates.  Both Alec and his Dad sounded very interested in attending saying they would talk to Coach Powell about attending and getting tickets.  While it was a surprize that they were next to us they appeard to be impressed by what they had seen during their visit as they got in about 4:30 Saturday afternoon, meeting the Coaches , shoot-around,etc.   My impression was that they are very interested in Valpo. He already has offers from IPFW and UIC.

I know that N Davidson has verbally committed and is an apparent solid one.  Has Yeo also done the same?  Also, are there any other verbals for that class?

We're planning on going to the Butler game..if there is an Alumni thing before the game as they have done in the past, who can we contact to get tickets, etc?  The info is appreciated

Valpo Basketball / Re: New Video Boards

We were at both the Akron and Duquesne games which was our first experience with the new scoreboard and all of the smaller boards...fantastic addition to the ARC...yes as we sit in the chairbacks we see the ads also...my only negaqtive comment is what was mentioned here earlier namely the delay of the info being posted on the big board...it's  something that I think should be corrected as another bucket or whatever can happen before the original score/update/etc is displayed...very confusing...if I remember correctly the "end" boards are posted before the big board updates for example on posting the fouls for the player. Overall the new board is terrific!!   Congrats to  the A.D. and Marketing gang!   Now lets get more concession stands and restrooms.

I was at the Akron game...was impresssed by the hustle and hard work attitude, especially in the last few minutes of the game when we were down I believe 59-54...the kids never quit, scoring the last 8 points in the game while shutting them down...in the first half I think we were down 10 but no one lost composure and we came back...sure he makes mistakes like any first year coach but so far I'm impressed.

Valpo Football / Re: Valpo - Duquesne (9/17)

Glad to see the positive comments by ValpoBy7 and rford 2009.  I too am tired of reading all the negatives by some posters who perhaps should keep their thoughts to themselves.  It appears rather obvious that our program is improving.  Some of these negative comments are detriments to the program and positive attitudes and things that are starting to happen with our football program.  It is disturbing to me to have the players and their families see some of these postings.  It's obvious that they are committed to changing our program for the better along with a great coach who is committed to  do the same.  GO VALPO!

General VU Discussion / Re: The Crusader Mascot

Have you seen "Spartie", the Michigan State mascot?  Talk about a terrible looking mascot...and it's at a Big 10 or 11 or 12 school!!!  And how about the IPFW mascot!  Compared to those, we're looking good.
#1668
Amen, Crusader 65!   Some of the negative comments being posted regarding our new Coach and program and now attacking the A.D. are inappropriate.  I like the direction our football program is heading.  It will take time.  You don't build a top program overnight.  It's way too soon to start criticising Coach C and now the A.D.  Our A.D. has done an outstanding job developing both the intercollegiate and on campus programs for the student body.  And it appears that facilities development is and will be continued to be improved.      GO VALPO!

Valpo Football / Re: Youngstown State - Valpo (9/10)
September 05, 2011, 09:27:05 AM
Let's back off some of the harsh criticism of our young football team...we are starting from scratch basically....we have a new coach who has great credentials, building a "new" program and molding a new attitude, new defensive and offensive systems, just now recruiting players who fit his systems, and using many young players as he builds the program.  As for the team, keep working hard guys and your efforts will pay dividends in the near future.  Go Valpo!

Akron and Duquesne are 2 of the teams in the tourney for sure...the other team has not yet been determined
