Can anyone give Cooper Schwieger's background, home, size, weight, position, school, previous commits if any, etc.?

Whatever happened to the 2 pitchers from last year's team who were drafted or free agent signed by Detroit?

It sounds like Lual will fit perfectly into Coach Powell's  offense...and he loves to block shots. Next season could really be a fun one.

Does anyone have the specifics on him? From where, height, weight, position, etc?

General VU Discussion / Re: Enrollment numbers

I thought this thread was "Enrollment Numbers" as it relates to VU.  All I am reading is about women sports fans.  Are we getting a little off track here?

OK wh, I understand.  I'm with you.  I think we all can relax a bit because I believe the new Coaching staff, optomistic outlook and an attitude change supported by the University will bring a whole new  MBB game experience.  I think that will also include what happens on the floor, regardless of our won/loss record.

Do not let the name "Lutheran" fool you.  LIL is a very expensive private school.  It is not like any other Lutheran high school in the Country.  I believe that a number of years ago it made the cover of the old Parade Magazine that was a part of Sunday newspapers.

General VU Discussion / Re: Valpo Strategic Plan

What are the long-range plans for it?

Glad to hear some other people are having fun also.  :)      A passing thought...maybe the student section could be called the "dog pound."  Sorry, just having a little fun.    Let's play ball!!!

I agree with what you say...I just think it's kind of funny seeing how so many people get worked up about the name and mascots, which are a joke in themselves.   After what we all have gone through the last few years with our MBB program we all deserve to have a little fun now and then.  We all look forward to the upcoming season for sure.

I think you have already seen the results that the "Beacon" nickname and the dog mascots have generated regarding sales of the new nickname  on  VU gear.  To me it appears that sales are way down on shirts, sweatshirts, etc. that have those designations.  Just look at people attending basketball or football games...you just don't see that many wearing the new look stuff.  I have bought clothing since the changes have been made but NONE of it has the "Beacon" designation.  Let's call it like it is...the changes were a flop.  We will just have to live with them.  Educators don't like to admit mistakes.

Don't know what is worse...the mascots or the name Beacons.  Let's face it, who cares?  They are both bad.  :)

So far I like His approach for completing the roster.  My impression is that he isn't just signing anybody to get numbers but being selective in giving out offers...a good long-range approach.

Where did Scroggins go to school prior to Bosco?

I will be disappointed if Coach Powell makes any references to "Beacons of Light" and/or the therapy dogs

Not seeing published that we have made offers is of no surprise, or shouldn't be.  VU has always kept close to the vest any athletic announcements, including not issuing a press release of hiring assistant coaches.  I would guess that VU has made a number of offers that we know nothing about, at least at this time.  It seems like most offer announcements have come from tweets, etc. by the player in question.

Be sure to read Paul Oren's latest article on A.J. Moye.  It is a great piece and should make all Valpo fans very proud of Coach Powell and the hiring of A.J.  What a class act!

It is important to realize that because of the late start this Staff faced we should not judge this first recruiting class as typical of future recruiting efforts.  Nonetheless, it appears that they are being particular in these late efforts to fill the roster  I trust we will get off on the right foot recruiting wise and even though they quality of players may not be up to future standing, we will get quality people that will fit into the Rev's plans in the future.  And who knows, maybe we will even surprise people this up-coming season.
