I will say how these guys are growing and learning and not giving up and playing to the best of their capabilities. I totally respect that. Better than the Lottiich experience and far better than the situation with the women's team.

Disagree, it is just sustaining with embarrassing, terrible results, and you have to wonder what recruits are thinking. No reason to keep this situation - hire the assistant as an interim and move on if you know a change is needed.

This is typical Valparaiso leadership being overly passive.

Embarrassing to lose by 30 at home. Obviously some eggs need to be broken now, and I just don't understand why Small and others allow this performance to sustain.

Good points, and I presume Valparaiso will handle this situation better than the current situation of the Chicago Bears, which is "bad" management and ownership.

Their record is 4-12, thus they are not a good team. They are a way below average team.  This is simple to say. Young team I agree, but not a good team. If you know nothing about this team and the situation and making bets, you would consider them as a bad team.

However, that's OK as we know the talent level will improve, and these guys are learning and not giving up. We are in a better situation than with Lottich in the past few seasons.

16 - football at Wabash and DePauw is more important to them compared to Valparaiso, which in reality uses the program as a lean, mean money making machine.

You have to like the positivity and consistency of covufan's picks.

I look forward to seeing how well Powell recruits and works the transfer protocol.

Most corporations use this  power language to buff a turd situation. I have seen this throughout my career.

David81 - nice, but you are drinking too much brown and gold koolaid. They won't win a game in the MVC tourney.

I say 4 wins. The team will improve over the season

I predict Valpo win win at least 3 more games this year based on overall improvement.

It's past the holidays. Time to make unfriendly but correct decisions. Make the decision now to leave no doubt.

Sounds like a total witch-hunt. I am sure far worse situations occur at other schools.

Quinn Buckner may have been the GOAT in Illinois HS basketball.

Valpo athletics tend to be overly patient in decision making and there is no justification for sustaining this decaying insanity of a program. Time to show competence, pull the plug now and move on.

I nominated Eugene Parker who again did not get it, and for what he has done for minorities in sports it is a travesty Valpo has not elected him in the HOF.

The sooner Valpo removes Evans, assigns an interim and moves on the better for all. The team is not growing and in a wrong direction.

In reality Powell needs the 2023-24 season to be his honeymoon period. He inherited crumbs talentwise and building the team from the foundation up.

I check the ESPN site before going out to dinner and saw Valpo up by 10 with 5 minutes left. I check the site today and wow, this is a journey starting with a lot of learning.

This isn't going to be easy of course. However, you certainly need to have patience in this situation and think about how this program will improve over time and hopefully enjoy the long term improvement. My feeling  is that we'll see good things in the future; Powell is not a used car salesman.

Times have changed as we have never seen this much discussion in the past regarding a Chi-State matchup.
