In a year that we went 7-9 in the Horizon League we beat Illinois State by 15. No chance that Illinois State could have competed for the Horizon League championship. But then 2014 didn't think Bader was any good either.

Only had 8 scholarship players dressed. 1 is being redshirted, 1 can't play till December, 1 has a broken foot, and 1 is suspended. Once league gets here we will be 10 deep unless injury. The kid who is hurt will play a bunch of minutes.

Not mad he didn't get drafted, nor at your joke. I would want the best for any Oakland player and I would want a Valpo player to make the NBA also.

Chad ford of espn has Bader at number 75. He has Alex Brown from Green Bay at 79.http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/results/top100/_/year/2014/set/3

Knowing only 60 get picked it looks like an outside chance

And my point is you are wrong that he is one dimensional. 1 dimensional players don't score over 2200 points. They don't get to the free throw line 175 times (made 164) in a season. They arent the object of game planing by every coach we played. (why would they be if all he could do is chuck)They don't make an all star team at an nba per draft camp. They don't play in the NBA. He was a great PLAYER, one of the best to ever play at Oakland, and could become the third Oakland player to play an In an NBA game in the last 10 years.

On The Horizon / To Valpo 2014

I was reading an article today written by a Utah Jazz reporter on Travis Bader "stealing the show" at the Portmouth invational and I thought of you. Travis made the all tournament team so he was one of the best 5 players there yet he's not one of the best 5 in the Horizon league. Kendrick Perry was also at Portmouth but did not make the all tournament team. Word around here is that Travis has worked his way into the draft as a late second rounder. I surly don't know if that is true but I guess that is pretty good for a chucker who would have just been an average player if he played for Valpo.

Also, Tulsa offered Manning 1.2 million to stay. Where is Bryce to that, the point 2

Do u really believe a league with the national champ, UCONN, Cincinnati and Memphis is ranked slightly above the Horizon. Who's clueless here?

Ok, hope I'm not upsetting anyone here by posting to much but I showed this play to a guy in my office who is a d-2 ref. he says it is the right call and had to be made. I said people are saying Bader was not set and it's a block not a charge. He laughed at me and said Bader is on offense, setting a screen, therefore it's not a block/charge but would it be an illegal screen and the answer is yes. Legal. Because he doesn't have to be set, he just can't move. The ref said he took the hit in the chest and the defender clearly never saw him till after contact and the defender went though his body. Displacing him from his spot on the floor and is clearly a defensive foul. He also said that it must be call no matter what time of the game it was. This is not me this is a ref, don't know if he's a good one or bad one but he is a good guy

Jimmer was NCAA player of the year and a lottery pick. YES, I would say that is great. Bader lead the league in 3's made and free thow shooting. He lead the nation in one stat and was top- 5 in another and top 20 in another. If a Valpo player did that you would not say he should be first team all league. Come on.

Didn't hurt my feeling. Tied for 5th with a home game, when you lose 4 players to season ending injuries isn't that bad. We played many games this year with only 6 or 7 scholarship players and never one with more then 8. The coaches voted on Freshman of the year so you can argue this all you want. If Bader had played for Valpo you all would think he's great. Is what it is. Guess you can blame our coach that with all these awards we didn't finish higher. And the guy who hates Petros, He got 23 and 13 Saturday night. Name another big in this league that has done that. He also had 9 double/doubles. Lead the league. Also lead in rebounding. Those numbers make him deserving of something. Good luck in tourney. And 2014, I'm happy you are proven wrong and the voter saw how great Bader is.

Funny how we remember things. First, NO, Valpo didn't tie for the 2000 championship, our first year in the league, we won it outright. We were not allowed to play in the tournament, which is why u were the #1 seed. And I remember Willie laying on the court with his shirt over his head hockey style getting the crap beat out of him. The game was on tv. Would be interested to see it again. My guess would be somewhere in between

Sorry auto correct called you Alpo instead of Valpo. Did not mean that, of couse I know it's Kampe

Maybe you don't know, maybe you forgot or maybe you don't care but to set the record straight, Oakland lost 4 scholarship players before the first game to season ending injuries. Their starting point guard who averaged 9 points a game, our back up center 6-9 who would be a senior, and two freshman that Camper has said both would have played major minutes, a 6-7 four man and a scoring guard. So we are redshirting a transfer that means we only have 8 scholarship players. At the end of the WSU game with 4 Min's to play we had 2 walk INS in.  Yes, you have to be deeper in this league but at the tip off breakfest Camper told everyone that with this depleted roster finding any wins in this league would be tough. Beating Detroit twice and Alpo once has made it a good first year. Next year we will be picked 8Th and I would be willing to wager we finish in the top 4. I saw the two freshman who got hurt in practice and I'm not saying they are as good as your 4, but they are good. Put them with Kay and we will be at the top of the league way soon then most think

I'm sure that if he played for good ol Valpo you would all feel the same way....as LVD for MVP or 2014 saying that Williams will win Freshman of the year.

It took him three more shots then JJ to break the record, shot the same career % as JJ (40)and more important has beaten Valpo 3 straight times. Takes a real  :censored: to make a statement like that. In fact I believe he beat (2-0) your back to back championship teams. So maybe as a wishing to be journalist you should watch your fingers. Or maybe do some research

Hard to have the longest win streak in college basketball when their are a couple teams that have not lost this year, but what the heck, it sounds good
#71
could it have been great defense. Kampe's teams are know for great defense, right. Or it could have been that kid that would only ave 10 points a game if he played for Valpo. You know, the one who has made 37 of his last 66 threes.

Maybe at a Private school your right. Not a public. They did not commit a crime. No chance a normal student would be sent home. In fact a normal student would not have there named linked with it because it would not have been news. Joe average name googled the rest of his life will be blank, these two will have that article ( no matter that it was false) appear when a future employer googles them. They paid a big price.

Hey 2014....Oakland played the hardest non-league schedule...right???? After it Bader leads the league in 3 catagories and the nation in 1. The last 4 games ( 3 really good mid-majors) without  high major 6-8 athletes hanging all over him he goes 28 for 46 from the 3. He's shooting 43% from the 3.  Now I know he would only average 10 points a game if he played for Valpo, but you REALLY don't think he is one of the top 5 players in the Horizon.

I know I have to let this go. I have to let go, I have to let go.....................

Really 2014.....Bader is the focus of every defense we play. You make me laugh. If he played for Valpo you would have him as the POY already. This summer he was one of 20 players invited by the NBA to the Kevin Durrant skills camp for the 20 top wings in the country. Didn't see any other Horizon League players there. Probably should have been at least 5 Horizon league guys there before Bader but maybe they turned down the invite.  Here's what he does for the team. You have to take your best defender and face guard him and not help off him at any time leaving the rest of the players to play 4 on 4. If you don't he will put 45 on you so quick you will say how could that kid do that. Oh well, doesn't really matter what you or I think. The games that matter start on January 2nd.

There is no reason why we can't contend for the conference regular season championship and top seed in the tournament.  The ONLY teams that I have seen that look halfway decent are Green Bay and Milwaukee

Mr. Ft Wayne, did Valpo beat Ohio? No, but it was on the road right. Oakland beat them by 17, but it was at Oakland. I'm amazed at the things I've read on Horizon league message boards. When has November ever been an indicator how a team will finish. Teams non league schedules are so diverse that how does one really know. Also; young players get better, the top coaches get their teams better. How about the guy who said Bader shouldn't be first team. Really, the guy who is going to be the all time 3 point maker in the History of college basketball. A first team mid major all-american last year and a pre season guy this year isn't one of the best 5 players in the Horizon league. Having beaten Valpo the last 2 years I would think the Valpo fans might have some measure of respect for Oakland, but I guess only time will tell.
