All,

I am hearing rumors that Valpo is looking/interested in leaving the HL for the MVC. Has others been hearing this and is for only MBB or for all sports?

If its for all sports wouldn't that mean we would start offering scholarships for all the major sports?

This is rumor running across the school like crazy.. If we don't join the MVC league, does this mean we are looking to leave (all sports) for something better and why?

If we do leave, who wants our FB team?

So this move will not affect our FB team? Correct? I read all the threads and nothing really on FB..

No change in football. Football would remain in the PFL.

Drake of the MVC is also in the Pioneer Football League.

We would never bump up to scholarship football again.  We will remain in the PFL regardless of our other sports

.........and that is, without a doubt in my mind, the way to go for Valpo.  If we can just get competitive on a yearly basis, the Valpo athletic story will be very compelling and will stay in perspective.

I actually understand Setshot's 'go D-III' posts.  D-III is arguably the purest form of collegiate athletics (as far as we know   ::) ).  The sportscape on D-III campuses inserts sport as just a part of campus life.  Jocks are students, students are jocks.  At VU, with FB we have the best of both worlds.  We play at a D-IAA level but have the  benefit of existing in a quasi-DIII culture with D-I benefits in other sports.  Will a PFL team ever win a national championship -- heck no.  But, man, it's the journey and the effort that memories are made of.  We owe it to our kids to give them that opportunity.

Amherst just won the D3 national basketball tournament. Amherst has a great academic rep.and a great D3 athletic rep. Why not Valpo? :twocents:

Hey SS, was there a ESPN crawler on the D-III result.  Maybe once or no.  That school doesn't need anything to improve its apps pool.  The NESCAC schools fend off valedictory applicants like flies and most parents can afford the $65,700, yes, $65K+,  yearly cost straight up.  But Valpo does.  And D-I sports and the PFL meet that need.  ........but I know where you're coming from.
