National ranking for the men!

They think it's their highest ranking ever. I wonder if it's their first time in the top 25.

The women are regularly ranked, last year ending the season at #8.

Both teams play in D3.

And, I'll admit, it's easier for me to swallow a Crusader reference in a classical language. Moment of weakness.

That's cool but has been way under the radar. Where can we find out more about this?

Here's a pretty good site to start off with.

Is there any Valpo write ups on Ultimate?

They have a pretty low profile, on the internet and perhaps also on campus. Each does a bit on facebook and twitter

and are recognized as club sports - I'm not sure what that gets you.

Looks like a relatively small tournament, maybe seven teams, but including e.g. Villanova and Temple. But, a trophy's a trophy! (And a cool trophy, at that.)

Was apparently co-ed, with one Physics major holding the trophy.

Looks like the women are in the D3 National Championships this weekend.

The men had a sooner-than-they-would-have-liked exit in one of the qualifying tournaments (Regionals?) after maybe their best season ever. One player told me they were ranked more highly than the women (a first?) for a good chunk of the season.

The woman went 0-3 on day one. They played savage, meaning seven players, no subs. All their opponents (including Luther, alas) played at least 13 players.

They've been playing short for a while, I think they had just eight at their last tournament?

Tough way to end the season, but maybe they can still make some noise in the consolation bracket today.

Not a lot of love for them from eg the Athletics Department. But, it is "only" a club team.

They did pick up a win, at least, in their last game.

Really insane that they played with no subs in the national championship tournament. In a very aerobic sport, with their opponents playing 12-13 woman rotations. And, last I played in a tournament (OK, almost twenty years ago, and a pretty low level) subs were frequent and basically free, unlimited.
